The guys a good winger but to think other players are gunna come here because jac is here I don’t think so what we need is a new forward pack

You raise a good point. I often believe Clubs can attract like for like players by the style of football they play.

These rumours of JAC signing with us today have to be bogus.. Don't the storm have to release him first and want a replacement for that the happen.. So you would expect Storm to start the domino effect..
Hope its true though.

I think we used to get players like Lote and Gareth because we had one of the most exciting players in the comp and our attack was one of the funnest to watch, and the Australian coach. Now we have no draw cards at all. If we can get one player to build on, like how Panthers have the best halfback in the comp now, then you can attract more stars a little easier. We currently don't have any foundation to bring people. Gotta start somewhere. JAC is pretty exciting, it would be more enticing to get others if we have him than what we have currently

I would have thought a premiership winning coach and NZ coach would be a drawer card
And the fact we have a large supporter base
Along with opportunities to get game time here

Not sure. He was also an axed coach. Stephen Kearny is also a NZ coach. Not the same thing for me really. Fan base not a big draw. Not big draw for me. Need to start with some star appeal to get more stars.

Ponga signed with the Knights fully aware there was an inexperienced and young pack, but he became a drawcard for luring recruits.
JAC has shown the same influential capabilities. He can effectively open a game up and adapt at a high performance level - origin and finals series.
Winger or not he's a competitor and will only enhance the quality of the team, which isn't bad at all.

Players ideally want to be part of an team that will propel their careers, we just need to ensure any targets we can be that club(for them).

If someone offered me 800 k after 3 games I could have Forum members as team members ...I'm there

Wests Tigers have tabled Josh Addo-Carr a multimillion-dollar, four-year deal but the challenge of finding Melbourne a replacement continues after Alex Johnston said he wants to remain in Sydney.

NRL.com understands that the Tigers offer for Addo-Carr to play fullback has made them the leading contender for his services.

The deal would see Addo-Carr return to the Tigers - where he debuted five seasons ago - until the end of 2025.

The Wests Tigers are yet to make an official announcement on the matter.

It's believed that other Sydney-based sides have also registered offers with Addo-Carr's new manager Mario Tartak, though he declined to comment when contacted by NRL.com on Monday.

As well as Addo-Carr, it's expected Panthers veteran James Tamou will make a call on his future soon after being pursued as a potential leader of the Tigers young front-row cohort.

Addo-Carr's release from his Storm contract is still dependent on Melbourne getting an outside back in return.

That critical element, the terms of which were agreed to by Addo-Carr last year when he requested a return to NSW on compassionate grounds, presents several scenarios that are all still in play.

The Tigers have considered offering a straight player trade between the clubs, while Melbourne can also source a winger from another NRL rival.

South Sydney's Alex Johnston had loomed as a possible option as he offers similar try-scoring prowess to Addo-Carr, with 97 tries from 138 NRL outings.

However, after initial talks Johnston is understood to have told Melbourne he and his partner's preference is to stay in Sydney, with Victoria's COVID-19 situation playing a part in his decision.

Johnston was told midway through the year that salary cap pressure would force him out of Redfern at the end of 2020.

Manly has been touted as another option for the 25-year-old.

The Rabbitohs have however revisited attempts keep Johnston in red and green next year, and may be able to do so if teen sensation Joseph Suaali chooses rugby union and the Waratahs over South Sydney's three-year offer.

The Storm are already slated to lose Fijian star Suliasi Vunivalu to the 15-man game next season after the Queensland Reds ensured his own lucrative offer for 2021 would be guaranteed by the franchise.

Vunivalu is set to be named in Craig Bellamy's 21-man squad for Sunday's clash with North Queensland, with a call to be made on a surprise early return from his broken jaw to be made later in the week.

JAC to me is still somewhat of a risk at fullback, depending how much coin we've offered. If it's a 4 year deal, I hope we haven't offered more than $550k per year, I reckon he's worth that but any more starts to become a value for money proposition. Charlie Staines and Johnston both tick a few boxes, Johnston would go great on a wing but can obviously play FB in the event of injuries. Staines is more of an unknown but does look to have a lot of upside with size and speed and can find the tryline.

Interesting times ahead...

Couldn't agree more. Given Mbye is already being paid and is a known quantity, I can't see any logic in luring a non specialist fullback on big money.

From all the rumblings, the little inklings of info/rumours we have got so far, we are only prepared to pay him what he is worth as a winger. He will be given an equal opportunity to train at fullback and compete for the position in the off season if that is what he wishes.

I'd risk it if it's the only way to get him 😅 it's a big gamble, but we kinda gotta gamble to be closer to the top teams. My 2c! He'd have to be more exciting than Mbye hah. But happy for Mbye FB JAC wing. I just want to get him. I've learned enough from past certainties to know as it stands, we don't have him.

I would be happy with that outcome and certainly don't want to pay overs again, healthy competition means it has to earn the position, must admit not a fan of his COVID indiscretions as unsure what culture would bring back but his football of late has been fantasic with pure speed and positional play.

I'd say that all madge would offer would be for a chance for him to train at fullback with the best man winning the job. Nothing wrong with that.

Yep, if you want to be in the big games, you need big game players to do it.

I hope JAC and Staines are both in our sights. Combined with Kepaoa and Brooks that gives us four genuinely quick backs. Risk and Kei also have pace. It will be a nice change.

600k is the absolute max we could pay for him. 550k ideal. I don't like the 4 year deal. 3 years plus a club option perhaps, but 4 year deal are always extremely risky.

I hope we get JAC, we need someone of his calibre to go well to have any chance at success.

That being said, if we have MBye, Doueihi and JAC all on good fullback money, surely one of them will go well at fullback.
