Losing young players on peanuts like Talau who is a starter is a double blow as you can’t replace him for the same money.
If true I would be trying to get Nick Meaney hugely underrated player. Treated poorly at the Dogs he’s the best fullback at the club.
I. would like a current Kangaroo, SOO player and premiership winner. Keep your Meaney's and DWZ's at the Bulldogs.
Meaney can play and would be a better goal kicking option than anyone we have. Fox is a gun but he’s a winger if it’s huge money it’s a risk we can’t take and lose a young player. It’s all relative.
What, Joey Leilua is on what $500k? Paying JAC $750k is a bargain. He's three times the player Leilua will ever be.
How many wingers do the roosters, Storm pay 750k? Losing a player we want like Talau on $250k and having to pay 450k to replace him makes zero sense. This is the issue it’s not in isolation. You will then spend 1.1m on a centre and a winger taking a punt he’s a fullback.
It could work but it’s the type of wild punt we can’t afford. BJ, Reynolds, Packer contracts have no relevance to doing a deal for a new player.
I’d pay Fox the contract we proposed any day but it won’t happen that way. He will want big money whether he plays wing or fullback and the Storm want Nofa or Talau.
I've posted it way back, recruit JAC and Saab. Nofoaluma to Storm.
If you release Nofa it will kill the culture of the squad. Have to keep your own that perform strongly. We should learn from past mistakes.
How so? He's had a good year in attack, poor defensively. He's been on what $450k for how many. years? I don't believe he has been particularly good value for money. for WTs. I get it he is. a Campbelltown junior.
lol I tend to like a lot of what you say , but you’re off your head this time . If you’ve ever been in a team atmosphere you’ll know that releasing/ firing a beloved member is a sure fire way to ruin culture .
Not to mention he’s literally the winger of the year.

A current Kangaroo, SOO player and current premiership winner. His contract would be ***paid for by gate earnings***. JAC, Talau, Kepaoa, Kei, Doueihi, Brooks. That is an exciting group of players.
Seen this a few times, so I thought Id jump in. Tigers dont receive any extra money for gate receipts if we get bigger crowds at ANZ or Bankwest.

JAC/manager will find a way to play with us if he really wants to - not at the expense of Nofa.

We have a losing culture as an earlier poster has stated. To improve it, we need better players. Moving Nofoaluma along to gain a much better player is fine. Yes I have been in situations where good team work determines the outcome and there is far more at stake than a football game.

That is a superficial way of looking at it Paws.
Everyone would agree that JAC is a superior winger. The question is, how much better ?
Suppose we were paying Nofo, say, $450k, and we let him go to the Storm, and we had to pay JAC , say, $750k, to come here. Is that a good deal ? (I'm making up some numbers for illustrative purposes.)
Is JAC a 67% better winger than Nofo ? It's debatable, but I'd say no.
Paying JAC overs because he may make a success at full back would be foolish (which apparently is what the Dogs are offering).
In any event, the way we truly strengthen our team is to have JAC on one wing and Nofo on the other. That's a nice balance. I don't see the point of weakening one wing in order to strengthen the other.

Not completely true, once the crowd goes past a certain point we move to a revenue share model, but your point is valid regardless.

I'm a realist, Nofoaluma is a club level player. Do we want to improve or continue to fool ourselves.? We need better players. Nofoaluma has reached koala status in some sections. It is not a matter of liking or disliking him. He has received very good renumeration from the Club so it works both ways. The loyalty card is irrelevant when you are trying to improve.

In other news, my horses ran close seconds on 6 occasions yesterday and I ran out of money before the end of the day!
