Ray Hadley on 2GB this morning made mention of the meeting to be held this Thursday and the Heads of agreement that JAC made with the Tigers previously, said that it “Looks likely that Addo Carr will sign with the Tigers”.

My question is, why did JAC say no to having signed a Heads of Agreement? If he had signed it (and I'm thinking it is likely he did sign it), why then lie about it? Was it upon direction from his management?

Why not just say "I'm not prepared to comment on that at this stage".

Thursday is ultimately D-Day for this whole situation. Addo-Carr's management jumped at the 4 year deal offered & thought it was honestly going to be the best deal $$ wise & also the length was just added security, but now there seems to be a few clubs (yes Rabbits) that have come in going we can offer you this much more but only from 2022, this is where the doubt it coming from, all stuff in the media is coming from his management. I have no doubt in my mind what so ever if the deal was revised & money was raised the headlines would change & he will be a Tiger in 2021.
I think he knows how much his reputation would suffer if he decided to stay in Melbourne considering the whole song & dance being made about him waiting to leave for family reasons.

Do you think we will revise our deal in order to get him for 2021?

Yes but will depend on exactly how much more $$ will be required to get him over the line.
There's also the principle fact he agreed to the original deal & now wants to change it.

Hi Pom any chance in the meeting Thursday same Manager JAC and Saab a negotiation may be done with HOA for JAC being lifted and him going to souths etc and we end up with Saab ?

Potentially a rock and a hard place situation - up the offer and all players know play hardball and the club will fold - not a good signal.
Don't up the offer and we don't get him - media all over the club for being no-hopers, low-balling, unattractive and militant.
If the HOA has legs legally I'm sure the club reminds him of that. As written above, he will lose a lot of cred if he stays in Melbourne - not that it would probably worry him.
At the end of the day, I would prefer someone who wants to be here. Hopefully, he does.

That's the thing, throughout all the original negotiations the club received nothing but positivity from JAC camp & he was excited about "coming home" & helping bring success. The club was excited & just let the media speculate, but within the last 2 weeks & certain leaks to certain jurnos have rushed forward this meeting on Thursday.

You obviously have insight as to how some of these contract negotiations play out...The thing that I question is other clubs such as Souths who have chimed in promising things from 2022 onwards...have they stated how much they're willing to pay if they haven't offered a formal contract?

It's all smoke and mirrors if you get my drift. Obviously other clubs would love to sign JAC, but until they put an offer on the table, they can blow smoke all they want about salary etc and who is JAC, or anyone else to think otherwise?

And you really don't know if JAC is using Souths to try and up his $$$'s from the WT's

That's the question mate! Souths can spin it any way they want at the moment...we'll offer you this, that etc. but have hey got a firm offer on the table? The interest only serves to drive the WT price up IMO. Now it's a bit hard for JAC who says he wants to do what's best for his family - staying in Melbourne isn't an option if he is to be believed and at 300k, Melbourne have him for a steal. If he accepts WT offer, he's got a big payrise and did it for his family...if he knocks back the WT offer to stay in Melbourne, well it's not really about family then is it?

In reality we probably can't afford both JAC and Crichton ...bit of a pipedream ...but if they can force us to spend more on JAC they can get the upper hand with Crichton

Solution make him Fullback and Captain.
Nil Performance incentives and up the original offer.

Headline this
Prodigal son returns
We wander for opportunities but we play for family.

In reality see the deal could go 50/50 lets see how our WT CEO/Coach/GM handle themselves with negotiations.
At least we will know by weeks end and we either Sign very good player or we miss out again and questions need to be asked why we cannot attract quality players.

Make him Captain - are you serious???? Sheesh.

JAC brings a lot on the field which warrants the money we’re offering and if it takes a little more to get the deal over I think we should do it 100%

I think one of his biggest attributes which gets overlooked is his ability to create team harmony, along with making our club an attractable destination for free agents as JAC has good relationship with multiple players around the league as he has a very likeable personality - goes along way with the family orientated team culture the club I’m assuming is trying to install

Absolutely. If we can get JAC and somehow land Crichton we're heading in the right direction. Tbh, as much as I love Grant as a player i'm happy to keep Liddle and Simpkin and get Crichton with the money instead.

If we could do this it's a massive upgrade. I reckon we need JAC more than Grant. We need some express pace in our team. Grant is a quality player though.

What about the player swap situation with Melbourne?

Yeah are Melbourne releasing him for this season?

Nothing coming from us going to Melbourne but they will get their replacement.
They aren't going to get their "like for like" but will get their next diamond in the rough to become the next best player.

Never bought into the like-for-like thing, no one was going to offer them a club favourite.

They're more than well-equipped to get players like Jennings to get their job done.

I always thought it was nonsense. It sounds like a non issue.

HOA lifted when he says my client JAC doesn't want to play with you WT but would you take Saab ?
It gives us a player and for Tarkat the Manager it makes his other client Saab happy as he can leave St George (saints dont get anything out of it really though I guess they can spend it on Bird)

Saab has been trying to get out of st George since mid year. Dragons don’t have to say anything when a player is that public about wanting to leave

Thing is, even if other clubs offer him more money for 2022 onwards he'd still be sacrificing about 300k to stay at the Storm this year. Are other clubs offering more than 100k a year more than us, when we were already a pretty high offer? Would he ultimately earn any more (legitimately) by signing elsewhere?

Mate that is a very good point

Won’t the roosters be chipping in for 21 with Angus? Depending on what we offer JAC on Thursday, we might be able to pull off signing both..

Very specific question. Highly doubt that’s a option

just curious Yeahcaz just another way for WT to get screwed over.
HOA lifted when he says my client JAC doesn't want to play with you WT but would you take Saab ?
It gives us a player and for Tarkat the Manager it makes his other client Saab happy as he can leave St George (saints dont get anything out of it really though I guess they can spend it on Bird)

Seems like absolute worst case scenario. Ship has sailed for us to bring in Saab as well imo, with kepao at the club

I agree it would be a bad buy but it seems like something that would happen to us lol
Miss a Ferrari and buy a Saab

Have Dragons told Saab he can look around?

No they haven't but was just thinking he may not be needed if they get Bird or if he again plays the mental health card or something. Just thinking player manager could ask again who knows, timing might work for him

Saab has been trying to get out of st George since mid year. Dragons don’t have to say anything when a player is that public about wanting to leave

Is that right? I was thinking that if a club wanted a contracted player they would need to have an agreement with that player and another one with the club holding the contract. I haven’t actually seen a player contract, so I’m not clear on the conditions.

I think Crichton moving on may be a little premature especially with the current situation with Boyd Cordner.
