The dogs have been quite aggressive and have recruited well. I think theyve made the gf twice in the last ten years so i can see them being more attractive as a club than us.

We are like one of the only sports leagues in the world witha closed off , fixed team lineup every year ( no relegation) , that doesn’t have a draft . It’s seriously head scratching . You have a draft and trades , and make the salaries transparent , and it’s happy days . So what if people know that josh Reynolds is on 800k ?

People knew Nicholas Batum was on 29 million , and riding the pine for the Charlotte hornets . It’s not his fault ,it’s his clubs . Or that Tom Brady was taking 10 mil pay cuts , cause he knew he’d make it back up in endorsements , and he wanted that money to improve the team .

It only matters if you’re shady , and worried about being caught .

Just one on the Dogs .. how the hell are affording the players they are signing .. ?? Nick Cotric, Kyle Flanagan, Jack Hetherington, Corey Waddell, Josh Addo-Carr, Malakai Watene-Zeleniak and they are still after Stephen Crichton and Spencer Leniu .. !!

Plus they just upgraded contracts to Adam Elliott, Josh Jackson, Dylan Napa, Lachlan Lewis, Will Hopoate, Raymond Faitala-Mariner and Nick Meaney.

But can you believe they are paying Nick Cotric 650K a year, and the Fox only 550K a year .. !!

Well.. to be fair:

Kyle Flanagan was snapped up cheap, roughly 300-350K
Jack Hetherington 400-450? Was on development or starting cash at the Panthers
Corey Waddell was on the outer at Manly
Nic Cotric was 600K to play centre from my understanding?
Josh Jackson would be on the 10 year service pay 150K plus whatever else
Nick Meany wouldn't be on much.

People on the outer at the Bulldogs would be Lachlan Lewis and Will Hoppa IMO, wouldn't surprise me these two leave.

I’d take Lachlan Lewis to run around for the magpies , at the bottom of the half depth chart . At the very least if he had to come in , he wouldn’t lose us a match . But still , no more than a few games , to fill in . This is the type of guy , we should be looking at in regards to fillling a half void . Not guys like Widdop who we’d feel obliged to play , because of what they did 5 years ago.

Every memory of Lachlan Lewis I have is him having a ground day on the Tigers.

Not sure if everyone remembers that massive hitup he did to one of our players? The name cant cross my mind.

But other then that, I do rate him as a player.. the way he sits there, takes his time and kicks the ball so slow, 9/10 in point on the spot.. I ALWAYS yell at the TV because personally.. he should be smashed into the ground by how slow he sets it up.. surprised the coaching staff don't say smash him..

No, 2 million over 4 years is 500k per year - 650k to Cotric, now I don't think much of Addo-Carr's brain power but he is not totally stupid. Maybe the Dogs think everyone else is.

Third party has kicked the tin big time, or the brown paper bags are out - why is this not cause for the NRL to check the books.
The Dogs have done it before.

Whilst they are at it they should be opening the books at Souffs with Latrine taking 600k over our one mill and a number of other dubious deals.

C'mon Mr Vlandys, if we can smell it - I'm sure you can. Let's get serious if you want to clean it up.

Exactly. Biggest blight on the game, followed by the interminable wrestling mess at the play the ball. If Vlandy's can fix these two off field/ on field issues we'll have a much more appealing game and a lot more fans who believe in its worth.

Then when the 9 Million dollar Tigers get pumped by the 12 Million dollar Roosters it’ll be justified.

The RLPA strongly disagree. Doing it would have its positives and negatives, the players themselves will cop a lot more abuse off fans, but it would be nice as a paying member to see how the club uses its salary cap so I can see if they’re making dumb decisions or not

How ? The DT says things like Mbye is on 800k and everyone laps it up , hence all the abuse on here . And when it was released at the time it was like 650k with the first 2 season heavily subsidised .
So how is that better than everyone actually knowing instead of us all just going vested interest articles , to either make it seem like less money or ,!8! The case of player managers and DT make it seem like much more ?

There's no way in hell JAC is on $500k at the dogs, not when he had a contract here worth more. If i were to guess i would presume it was North of $600k.

All the articles say something along the lines of 'a deal reportedly ***worth more*** than $2m'. I think the poster who said it was close to $3m is on the money. There is no way he goes to the Bulldogs on less money than what Cotric makes.

It's like me saying to my missus that the new BBQ I bought was just over $1000, when in reality it was $1999.

It's usually more like the $7.5m Tigers

Does that include Packer and Mbye ?
?

Players don’t want it because they know they’re involved in a rort !

If a player is happy to make a motza and be in the limelight they should also understand what the cons are ..
If they can’t handle some flack then they need to find another line of work .

No one deserves death threats to them and their family just because they get paid good and play footy.

Even just a breakdown of the salary cap without showing players names would be better than what we’ve got now though. Like shows what the 30 players are on but doesn’t name them

But this is the thing right ? If it was us it would read “Close to 3 million”, and that could be 2.51 mil. You could seriously say more than 1 dollar and you would be factually correct . Despite how morally manipulative that is .

Happens all the time! Esan Marsters copped it when he missed a goal to lose us a game. You’d be surprised at the terrible things fans say to players and families. Making their salaries public just adds to that.

As a fan that doesn’t do that crap I would like to know a breakdown of the salary cap and who’s getting paid what - I can just understand players being hesitant to agree to that.

I think because contacts are currently secretive then yes once fans found out there would be some questions asked and no doubt some extreme reactions by some idiot fans. However once it becomes the norm and no longer a secret I feel those reactions would disappear. There could be pointed and relevant questions to clubs as why they paid what they did for a player. I’d prefer the transparency of knowledge.
