Someone closed the JAC thread. But he has signed with the Dogs for $500K a season?
https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/addo-carr-signs-four-year-2-million-contract-with-bulldogs-20201216-p56o25.html

I mean Cmon. he had a deal with us for $600K! Why would you sign for less. Barrett must be really good at convincing people because I see the Dogs at Spooners next year.

I think it came out that it was closer to 3 million over 4 seasons... I could be wrong, but that would make more sense

$3m over 4yrs? I find that hard to believe.
There seems to be a lot of cow dung being tossed around in the media.

It wasn't in the media - a poster on here said he knew someone in the know at the dogs who said the figure was being understated in the media and the deal was closer to 3mil over 4 years.

I’ve been told the bulldogs offered him $600k more in guaranteed money over the 4 years. Our offer was based on incentives if he played fullback. He wanted the easy money so good luck to him.

That makes sense. If our offer was up to $675k including incentives and dogs at $650k which has him on same as Cotric, then of course he would be crazy not to go to the dogs. If he came to WT and didn’t play the required 12 games he could be out of pocket by $600k over 4 seasons. A recipe for conflict and poor performance imo.

It was reported that we pulled our offer in early December, so when he signed with the dogs, he never had an offer on the table from us.

Are you saying JAC went into panic mode once WT withdrew?
Maybe? IDK?
I’m guessing he had 2 options.
1. WT at $500k with incentive to prove worth at FB and get up to another $175k. A vague incentive because his selection 12 times or more over each season was obviously at the discretion of a team selector. Not directly within his scope, he not being a selector.
Or..
2. Dogs at $650k regardless of position. No strings.

To me it’s a no brainer. If I’m Josh, I don’t want the distraction of a positional change effecting my take home pay by a substantial amount.

He signed a HOA as we were the only genuine Sydney team showing interest and prepared to offer him decent money. That changed when Barrett was appointed and dogs came in with a bigger offer. He tried to get out of the HOA leading Lee to come out in the media and say our HOA is enforceable. Then Melbourne upped his salary for 2021 and he was happy to go another year at Melbourne to get the guaranteed money at the dogs regardless of what position he played. His lost all credibility because being close to his family was no longer a problem and he tried desperately to get out of the HOA and his manager didnt even bother turning up to our meeting. All about the money this guy.

Don't need that type of rat in this team. Disgusted on how he used his family to get more money.

Both Tigers and Dogs in a holding pattern till 2022, much depends on our ability to attract a couple of guns in the next 12 months.

I don’t believe for a minute dogs weren’t talking with his agent from the get go. According to media reports quoting Bellamy, Addo-Carr’s $100k or $125k increase at Storm is conditional on Cam leaving.
Seems like a few on here are smarting because he’s not returning to the Tigers?
He’s gone from “the best winger in the world” , to “he’s all about the money and doesn’t care about his family”.

He could be the best winger in the world but that doesn't make him a better person. He showed what he was when he used his family for an excuse but rescinded.

Just one on the Dogs .. how the hell are affording the players they are signing .. ?? Nick Cotric, Kyle Flanagan, Jack Hetherington, Corey Waddell, Josh Addo-Carr, Malakai Watene-Zeleniak and they are still after Stephen Crichton and Spencer Leniu .. !!

Plus they just upgraded contracts to Adam Elliott, Josh Jackson, Dylan Napa, Lachlan Lewis, Will Hopoate, Raymond Faitala-Mariner and Nick Meaney.

You do know that 4 of those players that you just suggested have been 'upgraded' are actually off contract this year, so they really havent been upgraded. Like the Tigers, the dogs have been hamstrung by poor recruitment decisions from years ago. They are finally coming out of that mess hence being able to sign some quality.

He is not getting 500k it would be well above that

It’s circa 500k. Numbers are right I’m told.

Great deal for Dogs

It’s a slap in the face he chose the Dogs over us but he most likely didn’t want to put in the hard yards as a wannabe fullback or training under Madge .

100%.

Yep big slap in the face. He’s gone to a club in a worse position than ours, with a worse coach, worse forward pack, in a worse part of Sydney, with zero Aboriginal pathways. I honestly thought he was holding out for Souths to get the money together and I wouldn’t have cared if he signed with them, at least they are a decent team, but losing out to the Bulldogs is just bloody embarrassing really. Somehow they have managed to sign 2 SOO wingers despite being a basket case of a club for the last 3 years. Unbelievable!

Tigers fan here: Afraid they are turning a corner boys. They have been a rabble the last few years but they fixed their board, outed the poor coaching staff and unfortunately are on the up. Unless we make some key signings, I see their trajectory better than ours by 22.

Yes, I am sure because their CEOs time was up, that they will sack the coach they just hired.
That makes heaps of sense............

Good on the Dogs they are doing well,.Our roster and therefore our aims are different.I doubt the Tigers could care less. The club would have their objectives, and much would be happening behind the scenes.Envy would not pay a part in their thinking,
