OFFICIAL Jack Bird #299

2 years @ $400k is a reasonable roll of the dice for Bird … they got to sign someone and the list of available players is not a long one … I would prefer him as a forward , but considering Olam and AD concerns at least he provides some cover there
Turuva will likely play centre too based on the Montoya talk so he's likely to be 2nd row as a replacement for Bateman

Okay. So Camel. You have Adobe Carr and Kiraz on our wings. And Turuva our centre. Now I'm beginning to understand why fans buy membership.

He can hold hands with AD in rehab, not very excited i am afraid. If there ever was a signing to celebrate "Mad Monday" this is it

When he’s not broken he’s a decent utility … but how often is he not broken?

I’m 50/50 on him
Eh Bird played 14 NRL games this year and last. Had an ankle injury this year and played 4 games in NSW Cup. He was available for the majority of the season. I think his injury issues are slightly overhyped. 18 from 24 games isn't a bad turn out.

He obviously has to manage some things with his body, but he seems to be able to get himself out onto the field for
the most part.

A bit like AD, we won't be relying on him to change games for us. He's a solid squad member on a fair salary. He'll do his job for 2 years until we can fill the gap with a junior or another decent signing.

So by the sounds of it we might have a weekly centre rotation of
Olam/Doueihi/To’a/Bird. 🔥 🔥 🔥
Hopefully at least ONE of them is fit and healthy each week throughout the season. Maybe we can cut them in half and swap some lower limbs around to make sure of it.

Not seen Bird play much but if he can be a forward like most are saying then I’d say it’s a reasonable signing for a utility role on the bench (or even starting) with TDS to replace Api, 2 other specialist forwards and Bird to do whatever is needed. Also good for depth when we inevitably have 10 injuries at once again. Unfortunately, it seems like Jack will also probably be injured when this happens 🤷‍♂️.

Another thing is that this adds to the long list of 2025 contracted Tigers players with a first name beginning with J. Jack, Jahream, Jarome, Jayden, Jeral, John*, Jordan, Josh, Justin, Justin. Who’s next?

Cant write To'a off. He does have some magic around him when he is on song.
Nah it’s just that he has got injured in every single NRL game he has played this year. Ankle + 2 hammy’s. So by adding Jack Bird we now might have one of those mentioned fit enough to fill in one centre spot each week 🤞

Im with you. But I watched the spoon bowl on fox last week. Against Parramatta To'a didnt go bad. Quick, not only in body but mind. But injuries . I get it. The game when our saviour Hastings kicked the field goal. When the heavens opened up like in rounds 3 and 4 this year. But yes. You have a right to laugh on thos one.

I'm really interested to see how Bird is used.

2 options for mine
1. Right centre to protect and help Galvin in defence
2. Right 2nd row to do similar but with the advantage of being able to move to the backs when injury strikes. We had at least 5 losses this year and many games where we saw a back injured mid game and with no space for a back on the bench it saw us torn to shreds in defence but with Bird being able to move out to centre or five eight with a forward on the bench coming on it would significantly life our likelihood of winning more games - would have added 2 or 3 wins to have a decent back back up this year
