OFFICIAL Jack Bird #299

Bird is a competitor. Watch him play against us this year. Has more mongrel and determination than most of our team. If he fills a gap every 2nd game I’m ok on that money. In the past we would have signed him on 3 years for $650+. Yes from me, as all have said, hope he stays fit
2 years at 400K is decent for both parties.

Good Work Tigers

My concern is the same as what I had with Olam.
Bird does improve our 17 if he plays.
But we know his knees are shot and we suck at knee management.

Issue is how many games will he play and does it cost us more because we need a NRL level backfill.

400k (less for year 1) for 2yrs is very un wests tigers like, normally we get fleeced and agree to a few more years.

He is 29, is NRL quality across 2-3 positions (2 of which we have no depth in next season). If his body goes ok then we get value from this, if he plays 14 games each season then we don’t but at least cost wise he isn’t costing us a fortune.

Good cover for 2nd row/ centre if required.

I feel he is someone who might make a good contribution on the field. Luai is great on field but his leadership off field is his biggest strength IMO.
I think he WILL contribute off the field..hes a competitor if nothing else
Our very own cut price Finnacane!
No-one ties their shoelaces better!
But..we need at least one more quality player in the forwards who can make a difference to replace Ipaps..no more bargain buys!!Thats it..

Really can go either way this one. Worth the risk? I'm not so sure.

Hope we get off-field value off him if we don't have him on-field enough.

Would like to hear from benji at the start of next year what his ideas are for Bird ?
If he is to be used as an edge player (2nd row or Centre) or a middle forward ?
Don’t like the idea of swapping players positions around each week.
I’m hoping he is used on an edge.
It might be better for his body holding up 🤞
With others a fairly cheap buy for us and only 2 years.
