Jackson Hastings #251

Fantastic memories, just hope he can impart some of that flair to the backs this year.
Can you coach that into an existing NRL player? Those elusive skills and passes hitting their mark look great on a highlights reel. Those skills are a result of years of touch. How many existing players play touch footy? They don’t have time in the offseason anymore?

Benji was a freakishly talented attacking player.
He wouldn’t be in the top 30 halves I’ve seen though.
What was it about his halves play that impressed you?
His organisation?, leadership?, tactical kicking?, tempo control? defence? or was it just his nice running game?

I think if you compartmentalise the great halves into “types”, spontaneous and innovative are not necessarily the big two readily required skills.
Organisation, passing skills, tackling, getting the backline moving etc are the usual prerequisites and whilst Benji had some of those it was more just off the cuff.
Brilliant at times, but plenty of mistakes and burying him out past the centres in defence.
As you say, he was very talented but spasmodic. But wouldn’t it be great to see a few young Tigers with that zest for the game, like they were playing in the backyard or down the local park.

Brooksy will do everything in that highlights reel and do it in every game he plays.

Benji super player and now super coach.😍

Hank, Imo a very good player but still to be judged as a coach( probably won’t really know until he takes the reins in 25).
We can discuss it further then, if I’m still around.
I don’t like making commitments too far ahead, 3 years is about my current max.
