Jacob Liddle #198

I think people are getting overly worried for no reason. He should be back in a month MAX! If it was just a partial tear then he will be back in round 3 most likely.
Yeah but our first month of footy are all very winnable games by Tigers standard. Need a positive start to the season desperately

losing our best dummy half currently at the club hurts the chances quite a bit imo...it's already bad enough but imagine going into that Easter monday game with 4 ot 5 losses next to our name

We’ll he can’t tackle, his service is ordinary, he provides no direction or leadership, doesn’t provide a kicking option, has a poor motor and is always injured.
He has done some nice things running the ball himself but to be serious, that’s no where near enough.
You are a highlight boy aren’t you?

What blokes have done coming through the grades doesn't mean a thing once they are going up against the elite. Look how many child prodigy's have folded in the arse under 1st grade wear and tear. There are too many to list.

People who watch every WT game throughout the year, for years and decades on end, have enough insight to what goes on out in the middle to make their own judgement on players: whether it's seen as right or wrong is personal opinion.

Liddle is an adequate hooker, by no means a stand out in virtually any aspect of the dummy half position IMO. His running game and elusiveness is above average for his position, IMO every other crucial aspect is ordinary or sub-standard.
Look at Farah, he had it all. That is why he was considered top-notch by most followers of the game. Jacob is a long, long way from that level.

Mate you should know better than anyone that your going to get people on here that dislike a particular player for some reason or another...I like Liddle as a player, but I also have to say and I did mention it earlier in this thread, that we may never get to see the best of Jacob because when we could have seen the best he was always sidelined by injury...its a contact sport and some can handle it and others cant, thats not detracting from his talent,he seems to be injury prone and the club has given him plenty of help to get right and stuck by him..
Maybe he could move to another club and I wish him all the best if he does...in harsh reality, clubs may already see his injury tolls and may steer clear or they may give him a shot, however he will have to continue to keep working really hard to maintain a top 9 spot at any club..
As I said I dont for one minute detract from Jacobs talent, but the more injuries you get the harder it is to get the body back to 100% top fitness to be consistent week in week out in one of the most gruelling comps in the world and in a demanding position...

OR… Simpkin plays 9 with Brooks moving from half to Hooker for 10-15 minutes with Madden playing 14..is also a possibility
We just had 2 trial games which were the perfect opportunity to see how Brooksy goes as a #9 for a short stint if we ever needed it.

Would have loved to see us explore that opportunity and unfortunately it has passed us by.

That's fine.
But honestly, what talent has he consistently displayed in defence, with his passing in general or his kicking game? Maybe a decent short kick once in a blue moon. That's about it.
Not knocking him but he's very limited. Interested to hear what attributes you think he's got TBH.
100m intercept last year!?? Jesus mate, pretty sure under the pump too. Definitely got my blood flowing

You don’t remember?

Don't know if it was 100😂.

I've said a few times in this thread that his quickness is his greatest asset. Can't think of too much else TBH.

1 intercept is good but doesn't provide a decent overview of a career. I remember Keith Leilua or whatever his surname was scoring 4 tries in a game for us. And crickets after that highlight for Keith.

Benji had played 16 more games at the same point in his career..
Despite being first choice and playing a finals series.
Let's be honest, He's not costing us much money.

Yes, he's missed some games last few years,
But half of the potential games he's missed that you're holding against him are because he was a kid stuck behind Farah & McIlwrick...

You're counting his whole first year, Where he played 1 game toward the back of the year, And we had to get an exemption for him...
A year where he was behind Farah, Halatau, Cherrington...

I also feel your inflating the numbers by including the 7th year - When it hasn't even started....

Had a feeling the post was trumped up…

Go watch it again, then!

We don’t have much to cheer about as supporter group, totally understand your opinion though and respect it. He would need to have a big year no question…

Just seeing way too many posts really trying to tear the bloke down unnecessarily (not yours).

Cheers for the constructive comments 😛

^Definitely not tearing him down mate. Hope he overcomes his setback and plays great once he comes back. Always support the club more so than any individual, I hope they all rip it up this year- even the blokes who are leaving at season's end.
