Jacob Miller

Based on what i have seen from this guy …......I have got a high opinion of him and think he will be one of the elite half backs in the NRL within the next few years .......

This year Tim Sheens seems unwilling to give him an opportunity ...

Sheens has tried , Humble , Moltzen and Lawrence in the halfs with Benji ..... But no sign of Miller ....

The whispers about Curtis Sironen have slowly but surely become a roar , and some are tipping he will make his NRL debut this year .

Miller is off Contract at the end of this season and seemingly out of favor , rumors that he has been in talks with the dragons have also been heard .....

So what does the future hold for this kid

1\. Would you play him FG this year
2\. Would you re sign Him , for next year or beyond ?

Sirro will play FG this year, I'll put money on it. I suspect Miller be let go at the end of the season. Nothing confirmed, but Sheens has stated he cannot keep swapping the halves around in today's Sunday Tele, and he seems reluctant to use Miller, so I suspect the writing is on the wall for Jacob. I don't agree with this as the kid can play.

It's got to the stage where it doesn;t matter what the right decision is. It's almost half way through the season. Sheens just has to make a freaking decision and stick to it.
If he prefers Sironen over Miller (which he seems to) then fine. Pick him and show him the same faith that he gave Lui.
If he prefers Miller then ditto.
If he prefers Humble then ditto.
If he prefers Moltzen then ditto.

For whatever reason it seems he'll go for Sironen which is a real shame for Miller who looks like class but we need to settle on a 6 & 7 and stick with them and we only have one spot free in the halves.

from what i heard on the weekend dont be surprised if you see Curtis in Number 6 next week against the Nth Qld Cowboys

Thanks for the feedback Troy Does that mean that Rowdy is out or back in the centres Troy ??

I can't see why Sheens wont use him? Siro is a huge 5/8 and would be best suited to develop into a lock. Benji's best position is 6 and Miller is a very intelligent and useful halfback.

I am really scratching my head as to why Miller is being overlooked. Unfortunately I fear he will leave the club and be a successful halfback in the NRL in 2013\. Extra devastated if it's with the Dragons…

Totally agree,Manly done it 2 years in arow with Hodgkinson and Cherry Evans,Souths have done it this year with Reynolds,so why can't we put Miller in and leave him there, that is right our coach has no idea.

I know it's getting old but I seriously see Sheens slowly ruining this team. Using players out of position and his reluctance to use younger players.. I will be fuming if Miller leaves

How so.

A majority of players this forum has singled out in the past that's "ready" and "a gun" that hasn't been used by sheens he has pretty much let go have gone on to be nothing's.

Mighty mouse is a perfect example.

Just because we the fans see them all of 80 minutes a week (if that) doesn't mean we know the ins and outs of the rest of the 10000 minutes a week we don't see. It's like junior moors. He isn't being picked cause he has a niggling injury.

Sheens also said he wouldn't rush players again like he did with benji. Their body's are not up to it. If this Miller is as good as people say and he is seen as a future sheens will not pick him full time till his body is ready. Benji was rushed and it cost us 3 seasons of injurys to him.

In the handful of games Miller has played in the top grade he has shown that he is up to it not only in attack, but defensively too. This hit was in one of his first few games in first grade. To put on a play like that shows to me he's ready. His defence in his one game in firsts this year against Canberra was also very solid, making quite a few one-on-ones against some of the big Raiders backrowers.

He's nearly 21 as well so he's not as young as Lawrence or Marshall were when they started

I don't know about that Rexx He seems to continually rush Gareth back too early in my opinion and he continues to get more injuries

I have a differing opinion. The games I have seen him play (the few first grade starts) and in the U20's, I dont rate him.

Now before anyone carries on and calls me a tool, I might be wrong, but it is an opinion. It is my opinion that he does not set the world alight like some say.

Having said that, very few playmakers do when they are his age, so it might be too soon to be fair.

But, do we have 5 years up our sleeve to wait and see if he works out or not? In todays modern game the answer is no.

I won't be surprised at all Troy, even if Lawrence is cleared to play. Sheens needs to pick a combo and stick with it. 3 games back from injury, and 3 games in total this season and Sirro looks to be doing it very well.

He's not the flashy superstar that Benji is, but he's a natural halfback that controls the game. Lui was doing some freakish things in the 20s, but Miller is the type of player who steers the team around, makes strategic decisions and reads the game that's in front of him. IMO he's the perfect style to have between Farah and Benji. The 20s are a very well structured, well drilled team with some impact players like Rudolph, Koro and Siro. Without Miller it'd be like watching 17 chooks running around with their heads chopped off

I love how peeps state he is up to it in first grade or he is a natural half. Based on performance he isn't good enough.

I'd love to see him perform at the first grade level but so far he simply hasn't.

hooker robbie
half benji
5/8 sirro
lock anasta
i think this may happen next year but for the rest of this year , who knows , but i think we may see sirro sooner than we think specially if chris has problems with injury

Crikey, we all know what's in store for the future when it comes to Shifty's NRL selections so how about it, if Teflon isn't going to give Jacob a run in the NRL then he puts someone else at half in the NYC and let Jacob have a go playing against older players either at Balmain or let him loose at the Magpies, god knows they need help.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Curtis Sironen as he has had similar issues with his shoulders as Marshall had. Will Sheens
