OFFICIAL Jake Averillo #?

Was watching NRL 360 last night and, seriously, those guys have no idea. Averillo was not bought as a replacement for Luai! He can play 6 at a pinch but his position will be centre. It's why we bought him and maybe to play a bit of fullback when needed. Do they actually do any research? We have Douehi, Latu Fainu, Madden and Andrews - all halves! Just annoying, clueless journalism!
It's their opinion but we can dismiss it. Our club has made it clear why Averillo has been purchased. He is a genuine NRL player needed to fill a vacancy in our team, at right centre. Another forum member has mentioned that our cub's recruitment has improved significantly. No small part I believe is that our recruitment team as well as Pat Richards have the respect of players throughout the competition..

Improvement is in the eye of the beholder and depends on the time period .., 2024 was our best year in recent times … the last 2 years less so ..although 2026 is not over yet ..

I posted earlier where Riccio said it’s $550-$600k a year if that makes you feel any better
I texted into SEN this morning regarding the difference between Ricio and Cariannas variation between 500 and 700k.. Jimmy asked Cariannas and his response was it will probably start at 550 but goes up every year to around 800k in the 4th year..yikes...

800k now ? Wow . It’s an auction …which commentator can go the highest .,

I’m not gunna lose a lot of sleep now about what he is on come 2030… the salary cap will go up by a similar percentage margin by then anyway come the new broadcast deal

For a guy who was let go by the dogs and cannot cement a start at the dolphins I don't think he's coming on 700K

Sounds like KPP all over again media 700K but is on 550K

He's not an origin player
He did have a starting spot. Has been dealing with a hand injury, then lost his spot to Bostock who was just in origin camp. Then you have the best centre in the comp on the other side, and two rep wingers, one who was best on the park in origin 2, the other is leading the competition in points.

Non selection is hardly a slight on him. Was absolutely killing it before he got injured. Is only out of the team now because he has gun rep players in front of him.

Though they didnt just "let him go"...Uncle Wayne wanted him

Cant get a start..lol
Have a look at their backline,
Thats one way to spin it when it appears you dont like it

Wendell Sailor branded it a great signing for the Dolphins, describing Averillo as a “strike weapon” for the Bulldogs, with the Bulldogs said to be “disappointed” to be losing him.

“They were just priced out of the market. I imagine they’ll now focus on Alamoti although his
price is going up, so they have a fight on their hands,” Read said.

I hope he plays awesome next year for us
I just am not sure he is a move the dial type of player.
A bit of a jack of all trades e.g. centre wing fullback but kind of master of none feel about him.
In saying that is an upgrade on toa
May not move the dial but he sure can move.

If he isn't here it'll be one giant rebuild because more than half the team will also be gone. Blokes like Samuela, Latu, Terrell, Tiny Turuva, the list goes on will follow him out the door.

Benji has the power, he won't be going unless he wants to.
Sam and Latu aren't guaranteed here beyond next year. Both saying the right things and club want to extend but there has also been some talk of them waiting til end of year to explore options. Not that they want to go but want to hear other pitches.
Whilst Benji does have the support of the group we rarely see a mass exodus when coaches are moved on. Personally I think all the 2030 stuff is managers expecting that to be when the next tv deal will go up to and potentially for another bump again after that.

I'm tipping this guy will get more shit than To'a.

Big money for an average centre being paid starting centre money that he couldn't get elsewhere. On 400k, different story.

Probably the first signing I'm perplexed by in the Benji era.

Question, have you watched him play this year? Go look up his numbers to start the year, they were pretty outstanding. 7 games, 6 tries, 2 assists, avg 176m run, 2.5 tackle busts per game, 91% tackling efficiency.

Come on mate the poor dude hasn't pulled on a jumper for us yet and you're out looking for a scary black cat as a welcoming gift, wait till he has some crap games for doubt to enter your mind you never know he might surprise.

We have been screaming out for speed and now we have some at right centre, the position everyone's has pointed out as a glaring weakness.

They let him go he wanted to stay

And it is a great backline and he cannot get a regular Start

I would also ask about Junior over at the Roosters see if he wants to come back on minimum wage and get some catching practice in

$550-$600 with were the salary cap amount is going to be next season and beyond is reasonable for a bloke of Averillo's ability and experience. I don't understand your premise. To'a gets stick because he doesn't appear to try half the time. I've never seen Averillo with that same poor body language and effort as Starford

Pretty good - in the Dolphins backline.

I said he's average, not outstanding, not terrible. I think the money is too much, not necessarily that I don't think he'd add something.

Nuance doesn't exist in this forum.
