Jamal Idris joins Wests Tigers...Official...

He couldn't defend at the Dogs and Penrith and I can't see him doing that now, and we need a defensive centre

The fact he's shed 10kgs for this season is testament to how much he wants to be back. 110kgs, he'll move a bit quicker and hopefully will improve his lateral movements, thus his defence. His attack speaks for itself, hell be a damaging runner and will look to create second phase play.

I think now that he's a bit more mature, and that he's had the year off, it's only going to make him better, especially mentally. Its no secret hes been through a tough mental battle, but I think his one year sabatical could be great for him and us if we sign him.

He will also bring people through the gates and is a personality player so will get the club positive exposure off field. It all equates to more money for the club.

Could be a mini reincarnation of Lote Tuquiri without the injuries I hope.

Would probably still be better than Kev in the centres, to be fair.

i would love to see him on the charge for the tigers.

this will be his last crack at nrl you'd have to think.

what happened to dane laurie, smilar hairstyle.

he was goiing to be our saviour there for a while.

Dreadlocked giant Jamal Idris has been offered an NRL lifeline by the Wests Tigers as he prepares to make his return to rugby league after 12 months out of the game. Idris will make his highly anticipated return to the game in 2017 and the Tigers are favourites to land his signature. Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe confirmed to the Market Watch podcast that the club is in talks with his management to get Idris in an orange and black jersey next season.

I hope we can make him really dangerous i would be happy, what do you guys think.

Watching his interview with Sterlo I couldn't help but think he'd be great with us. He's got all the talent in the world and was always missing the mental application, but the way he was talking about honestly wanting to reach his potential for the first time ever and to do it for himself, that's a big call from a young bloke who's already represented his state and country.
I was disappointed when we weren't on the rumoured list of clubs talking to him first up but super happy Pascoe's said we are now. He should come relatively cheap and only really has upside, he's absolutely worth it.
As for his defence, he'd be right at home here and couldn't be much worse than some others, and he has the size and physical presence to either hit someone in to next week or at least make them think twice before heading in his direction.
Here's hoping Dave Taylor has a similar epiphany and decides to join us on minimum wage.

Big yes to Idris, big no to Dave Taylor

It is sad really how most of us supporters are salivating over the prospect of signing Idris ,.it is like OMG we are signing and experienced NRL player!!! like this is a real big deal ..this shows how desperate we all are for ANY half decent signing! :master:

I think it's just the fact he's got a massive ceiling. If he can perform at his best he'll arguably be the best centre the club has ever had.

Jason Taumalolo is what Dave Taylor should've been, instead he's faceplanting on social media and in his rugby league career. If the bloke got his act together he could be anything, but I doubt it'd ever happen, he doesn't seem to care enough (cautionary tale to Sirro). At this stage though Idris is definitely worth the punt.
