Jamal Idris released from GCT

I'm not sure whether we would have made a play for him if he was available. He's got some potential as a player, but he does come across as a bit lazy to me on occasions, just not convinced he has that desire to push himself 110% like the top players do.

I remember one of our backs (Simona?) showed him up real bad in defence and a lady in the crowd at their home ground screaming like crazy to get the dud off the field. Rewound it a few times it was that funny.

The stupid thing about all this is we saw when he did play SOO how damaging he can be when he puts his mind and soul into it at the highest level

I'll be surprised if he doesn't develop really well at Penrith. He's still only 23 and I think Gus and Cleary will be the ones to get the best from him . If that happens it will be great news for NSW.

Now the truth seems to be coming out about his departure

His third party arrangements have begun to fall through according to an article on the ninemsn page

Homesick , maybe not

Moneysick would be a better description

wouldn't mind him at the club if the officials and him sat down to fix up some of his commitment issues and the price wasn't excessive.

but it seems as though it's irrelevant as the penny panthers have got him.

Disappointed if we didn't require at all.

He's a wrecking ball Jamal.

**Reckon Gus' next target would be Keithy**

Yeah, i don't think so.

relax, it was a tongue in cheek comment regarding gus' infatuation with jamal and keithy on ch9 commentary

Idris reminds me of Tony Williams, big enough to be a prop, yet obviously coaches have noticed they arent up to the task so have them run at smaller men.

Pass.

Compassioante grounds is now code for cap problems, 3rd party problems,,,,it really means $$$$$$ grounds.

Or the best way to break a contract if you're a player as well (Barba, Hannant.) Milford is even trying this stunt on Canberra.

At this stage Iam more than happy for the club to sit back and target a couple of top line elite players that play in positions that we are really struggling in for the 2015 season. Idris is a good player and but I am willing to see how our present backs perform before pulling the cheque book out. Always good to be cashed up with cap space available so your in a position to strike when the unexpected happens.

one thing is for certain…
he's a hell of a lot better than Brad Tighe.

Wasn't Idris promised a Kids TV show, ambassadorial role, etc?
