The NRL has launched an investigation after the Titans confirmed on Friday controversial winger James Roberts had been arrested on the Gold Coast.

A Titans spokesman said Roberts was arrested at Surfers Paradise last weekend for committing a public nuisance and obstructing a police officer.

"The NRL integrity unit was notified immediately the club became aware of the charges and we will continue to work through the issue with the NRL," a Titans statement said.

"There will be no further comment at this stage."

Roberts, 21, had been considered on his last chance after being sacked from two NRL clubs for alcohol related incidents before the Gold Coast threw him a lifeline last year.

Dumped by South Sydney in 2012, Roberts - who has a history of personal issues - was reportedly sleeping in his car when he signed with Penrith.

But he did not last a year before his NRL contract was again terminated for a string of off-field incidents involving alcohol and was picked up mid-2013 by the Titans.

As I said before some of these blokes have an abundance of talent but would prefer to take the nohoper road in life

there are so many young guys working their butt off to try and get a start in the nrl yet this bloke takes everything for granted especially since he was given a life line by the Titans

When will this generation ever learn…...... :bawling

1000% agree…society is also the big loser in this as well as we have to support them via whatever tax payer funded programs they will go through....probably jail.

I don't know about his generation but it sounds like he has a problem with alcohol. "Public nuisance' is the way they talk about 'drunk and disorderly' isn't it? Until he deals with it this pattern's going to keep happening to him. Hope he can for his sake.

Dont think its anything to do with generation. Soiciety will continue to produce a certain number of idiots and it always had. I fact i think you will find todays players are better bahaved than ever before because if they arent they end up on the back page.

Even 10 years ago i recall seeing players doinv things that they would be sacked for today and nobody heard a thing about it.

Sadly it's the lifestyle of a young NRL player, go out and drink with your mates, act like a idiot and get into a fight or harass a girl and throw your career down the drain

I feel Sorry for this bloke, he has had a tough life, and is obviously in need of some help. Talent aside, he's a human.
Unlike some of you lot
