OFFICIAL James Tamou [Discussion]

[Magpie1969]

Remember BMM and Matt Goat? Both promising juniors that never lived up to the hype.
Really need an experience NRL hardeden Prop to lead the young chargers.

[walter]

Tamou why would u sign him Only here for retirement money what a waste

$350k a year for 2 years to provide leadership and experience to our very young forward pack is a great deal. he still has a lot to give. this is not Packer money that is going to cripple us in the player market. it gives us the ability to bring these youngsters through under the watch of a bloke that has done a fair bit as a front rower in the NRL.

now we just need to sign Hetherington as our enforcer and get rid of Packer and our pack is complete.

[Leck]

If this is a done deal we've just picked up Cleary's scraps again. We need to concentrate on our core and up and coming youth. We don't need old heads that don't understand our club and are just looking for a final paycheck.

I really hope this isn't a done deal, if so it's poor recruiting by WT's and Madge

Every club needs an old head. As for the rest of the highlighted part. That’s speculative. To put it politely.

I didn't want to get him but on those dollars it's a good deal.

Essentially he’s taking McQueen’s contract. A significant upgrade on that alone.

[Leck]

You missed my point. Concentrate on the core and build our juniors.

Sounds like you're keen to see Packer 2.0

Our juniors aren’t good enough yet and could do with some direction.
Comparing Tamau to Packer is ridiculous.

[Leck]

Why is that comparison ridicolus?

Packer had a breakout year in 2016, dropped off in 2017 and quickly declined when he came to us. Tamou's current stats look very similar and that's why he's being squeezed out at Penrith

[Aceshigh]

So many armchair generals here saying Tamou no good , you got to take onboard he is a leader of men , he is higly experienced and he is better than the props we have .

He’s not being squeezed out. He has the option to stay

Congratulations/best wishes to James Tamou on new contract with Tigers. He’s given great service to Panthers on & off the field. Great leader. Let’s hope he delivers them a Premiership success before he goes. Tigers have secured a great man. Really wish James & his family well.

Packer has never been the prop that Tamou is even when he had a decent year. He was always mediocre at best.

Nine News tonight had Tamou signed to the Tigers for 2 years.
