'Oscar for Best Imitation of Roadkill in a sporting contest goes to.........'Our right edge defense should get an Oscar
We did just fine. A few disallowed tries, one that should have been pulled up for Manly... that's a close score for the real trial. Wait for this week when Hastings has a go, then we'll have more of an idea of what we've got going. How would Manly have gone without DCE?I thought we did ok . We were playing a potentially top 4 side at close to full strength, while we were missing a few of our best. We dominated most of the first half and could easily have lead at halftime. Second half of trials is always a bit of a mess with lots of fringe players coming on and off.
I’m not going full chicken little just yet.
Madge doesnt need to change things as far as his coaching goes,he has had experience from a couple of good systems...Im not just being a big fan of Madge Im telling you guys how it is...
Our players and the guys that have been in the system for a while at the WTs are in a place of absolute complacency,it has been there for several years, the old we do as we like and if its not good enough ...sack the coach...same thing year after year, however some of the new guys respect Madge and his methods thats why Tamou always speaks about the players having to put in and not blame the coach..
the sooner some fans wake up to the fact that some of these highly paid wannabees start to perform like they have pride and dignity in the club and colours that expand to the huge fanbase and earn their respect, instead of waiting to collect the paycheck for appearing ,then the better off this joint will be..
year after year I hear Madge isnt the one.Potter wasnt the one ,JT wasnt the one and on it goes....start looking at where the blame lies...and its not the coaching but the playing group that need to do their job and have a good hard look at themselves as far as NRL playing goes....
If the stoppage rule has changed then this is going to happen a lot this year?Madge will be lucky to last 6 weeks, nothing has changed.
Same lack of interest shown by players, stagnating attack, same robotic bench rotation and even leaving an injured player on the field when there is unlimited interchange, and then conceding a try through the gap he left.
Yeah considering we had 5 players out who arguably are all in our top 13 and 2 of them were or best players from last year I thought It was ok.We did just fine. A few disallowed tries, one that should have been pulled up for Manly... that's a close score for the real trial. Wait for this week when Hastings has a go, then we'll have more of an idea of what we've got going. How would Manly have gone without DCE?
True😂😂
"Madge said he has some thinking to do before round 1 before he names the captain"
Tamou is so incredibly fake.
Even with a tigers hat on, he isn't 1 of us.
Would be nice to find Creepy Crawley at the bottom of the pool.We obviously could have been better but I don’t think it’s as bad as old mate Creepy Crawley tried to make it sound.
We are more like fainting goats than playing possum. All part of flying under the radar😳
We are like an animal playing dead but ready to strike😂
😂Put a Nofo jersey on 'em. Dead ringersWe are more like fainting goats than playing possum.
WT training drillsWe are more like fainting goats than playing possum.
Agree, but it takes an exceptional coach to get the tigers out of this. Is Madge exceptional? Did he build and mentor a team at South's, or did he just get lucky with his recruitment?
I can't say I've been convinced by his recruitment before Sheen's arrived.
Hoping it turns around..saw some good signs on Saturday. I guess time will tell.
Fair points. You can't do it on your own.Recruitment is an interesting one but seeing Sheens perceived impact here could just highlight the challenge Madge really had. He just can't do it all and the fact those all around him seem to keep supporting him indicates there is alot more behind the scenes that probably wasn't going on to better support him in the 1st place.
I actually think Madge was doing far to much for a coach and didn't have the right support framework around him.
This season he has some serious changes to support him - Cayless, Gardiner, Sheens, Kimmorley + training/high performance staff etc. This now allows him to focus on being the coach not an assistant, recruiter, pathways, defensive, attack, player conduit, full time coach, trainer etc
The focus on providing the right support over mateship has seen a serious transformation that occurred in the offseason to support him, which will take time but geez it's clear we are taking a more direct approach to support him.
Maybe the overall changes was actually driven by Madge when he went into the room driving some hard truths and clear statements with his job on the line asking for better support that was needed.
G'day @hank37w ...even with the physical and mental scars @Cobarcats carries, it's amazing what a high achiever he truly is, and a very caring gentleman to go with that.Does anything slow you down Cobar?
I previously said you're a good man worrying about others and I have to extend that to your Mrs after you mentioned that she was staying with your neighbour and looking after her at a terrible time.
Hope everything gets sorted out soon and you have a quick recovery.
