James Tedesco set for NSW State of Origin call-up, shifting Josh Dugan to wing

What more does Teddy have to do to be picked.

If he isn't picked this year, I fear they'll never pick him.

The way Daley, Johns and Co consistently drool over the overrated powderpuff that is Dugan is so frustrating. Deadset, they make it so easy to see why we have been getting spanked for the last 10 years.

Jump on every rugby league forum on the internet and you'll see fans from other clubs (including the dragons) stating that Tedesco is a superstar and has to be the origin fullback. Yet the pansies being paid to make these decisions have no bloody idea. They'll keep picking the same side that gets smashed annually.

On NRL360 a few weeks ago when the rugby league world was talking up Teddy, Laurie reverted to how strong Dugan was on the weekend in a game where Dugan made three unforced errors, 0 line breaks, 0 tries, 0 try assists, 0 try saving tackles.

When asked if Teddy was the best fullback in the game Laurie went on to stutter through a sentence suggesting that Inglis was still the best fullback in the game, depsite being missing in action for the past 18 months. He even put Darius Boyd ahead of Tedesco.

It's as if he is looking for reasons to not pick Tedesco this season and it is so bloody frustrating.The bloke has worked so hard in his career and has earnt that jumper. Give it to him for God's sake no one deserves it more then him.

Tedesco has done that brilliantly this year.

But sadly we are now into the annual nsw origin election campaign. Those with the best spin doctors get the spot.
Without being paranoid (I swear) watch for a negative campaign against Tedesco from some in the media as we get closer, claiming he's "not ready" or worse still "not made for origin"

Personally I would replace Dugan with Roberts but I can live with it, that isn't to shabby.

I'd like:

7\. A Reynolds

But we can't get to greedy, the selectors can only use so much common sense in one series :laughing:

Roberts is a gun. I wish they could find a spot for him.

Personally I don't like Dugan in the centres because he doesn't know how to pass the ball, meaning his winger isn't going to see much of the ball.

But the love fest for him from those that matter means they're going to have to find a spot for him.

Roberts in for Dugan and I'd be a very happy chappy.

Agree on Mansour's poor hands, but I reckon his positives make up for it and justify the gamble. His game is made for origin.

The man has worked so hard and overcome so many setbacks over his short career to get to where he is today.

He deserves to pull on that jumper.

It would make me a very proud tiger supporter watching him do what he does for us for the Blues.

Plus it might help us keep him in the long term if he's making an extra $100k playing rep football, makes money less important and easier to forgo to play with his mates.

Hybrid ,I be really concerned about him leaving the WT's if he didn't get picked even once for NSW in the next 2 SOO series

NSW coach Laurie Daley says Aidan Sezer and Blake Austin not ready for Origin

The Raiders playmakers have been touted as a possible Blues pairing for this year’s State of Origin series with Immortal Andrew Johns calling for them to be ushered into the line up.

Daley has a headache on his hands with big question marks over his incumbents Mitchell Pearce and Trent Hodkinson ahead of the June 1 series opener at ANZ Stadium.

Sydney Roosters’ Pearce is serving a suspension for his Australia Day disgrace and will have just three games to make his case upon his return in round nine.

While Hodkinson’s Newcastle Knights are winless after five rounds and he has failed to fire at his new club since his off-season switch from Canterbury.

Canterbury’s Josh Reynolds is also in the mix despite having been dropped for last year’s unsuccessful Origin shield defence.

Daley said on Fox Sports’ NRL 360 on Wednesday night that the fact that neither Austin nor Sezer had played finals football was also counting against them.

“You have to realise these two guys have never played in a big game,” Daley said.

“They’re 25 years of age and they haven’t taken their teams to semi-finals, so we can’t judge them on the big stage, all we can do is judge them on what they’re doing at the moment and that’s a critical component of the make up of your Origin team.

“You can’t pick someone in a critical position and be hoping they’re going to get it right on the night.”

Daley said Austin’s relative inexperience in the No. 6 jumper was counting against him and wanted to see him display sustained form before he would consider him for the Origin pressure cooker. “I’ve always consistently said that when I pick players for Origin, they’ll knock down the door and need to be consistent over a period of time before you’re confident enough to pick them,” Daley said.

“Blake had a good year last year and he needs to continue that.”

Daley revealed to the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday that with a scarcity of Origin-quality halves to choose from, he is, at this stage, favouring Reynolds and Hodkinson after the pair were heavily instrumental in NSW’s historic 2-1 series win two years ago.

It's worth noting that Paul Kent gave it to Daley on the night, suggesting that this big game experience theory doesn't work for NSW because there is no one standing out, no one kicking the door down. Laurie continued to waffle on about his theory.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Trent Hodkinson will be there though, that's the guy who plays halfback for a team who hasn't won a game yet :laughing:

obviously cherrington and ballin will interchange,how about our prop stocks?

i think its a credit to the club that three local lads are representing but it could be a barren period for the team as regards wins ,as our three best players are out.

it could be a time when broses lead the side and shine.we can only hope.
