I won't hate on him if he leaves after this year. I appreciate what he has done for the club. He was our Ben Kennedy signing. He drove standards at training and taught our young players how to live as an athlete. He hasn't set the world alight on the field for us, but I feel there is good stuff to come going forward. Manly's golden years came after Kennedy retired.
I also liken the situation to one that Luai found himself in at the other end of his career. James Maloney was playing well for NSW and at Penrith, yet they moved him on because it was Luai's time.
Realistically, we have two absolute young-gun halves sitting in reserve grade right now who could both be superstars (Javon Andrews and Latu Fainu). If Luai is here next year, their pathway is blocked for another year, which could easily cost one, or even both of them. I'm not saying we're about to go on a run, but the truth is we simply have to keep these guys as they are potentially the next big things.
