OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Yeah..
He's been exposed as a fraud, and hasn't been able to dominate without Nathan, over hyped and over paid, unfortunately
You really think that is how his peers see it - the players we need to improve this club?
More likely it just reinforced why we are transition lounge.

Seriously?
Do you think when a.player crosses himself.running out to play is an act too...or a.muslim doing what they do?

Reminds me of a story Mike Gibson told on Wide World of Sports back in the 80s …

A young Irish boxer saw his local priest after mass one day , and asked ..” Father , does it help if you bless yourself before a bout ? “ The priest replied “ not if you cant fight son”…

Well... I can only think of Cameron Smith in that final (2006?).

Storm dominated, but Smith surprisingly missed almost every kick. Second last kick he does the sign of the cross and makes the kick.

Meh it was a crazy watch. The final became boring because it was a slaughter (I think it was vs Manly and someone was injured). Would like our guys to start praying to someone if that can turn our fortunes around.

If we were swapping him for a player we need I would say get the deal done, but to balance the books and have basically the same roster, Iam worried.

Any club who would want him for 12months will want a sizeable discount on his current contract value. Also our brand name gets dragged through the mud again. Iam all for making hard decisions to make our roster stronger and if it achieves that than it will be worth all the bad press
Perth need to spend their cap, not many marquee players are available for 2027, plenty of options for 2028...might be perfect for them.

You would hope so.
I have reached out to someone to see if I can find out where this has come from and whether there is a fallout.
Wonder if he gets pulled from the side on Friday night and we see Latu start?

Just a heads up that Rob Bechara is on the Wests Tigers life pod at 8.40 if you think he might have some inside news about Luai… apparently it’s a special discussion on the news of him leaving today

Parramatta sounds like a good option given family not wanting to move twice. Moses/Luai combo - not much risk for one year but possibly high reward.

at present
I would like to see
7 AD
6. Andrews

Jed can I ask why?
The way i see it the 2 games that you can compare Latu and Javon are the 2 they played together and both times Latu was a level above, as he should be considering hes older with NRL experience, but nonetheless he was better than Javon. So im curious why you think Javon is the better player

I won't hate on him if he leaves after this year. I appreciate what he has done for the club. He was our Ben Kennedy signing. He drove standards at training and taught our young players how to live as an athlete. He hasn't set the world alight on the field for us, but I feel there is good stuff to come going forward. Manly's golden years came after Kennedy retired.

I also liken the situation to one that Luai found himself in at the other end of his career. James Maloney was playing well for NSW and at Penrith, yet they moved him on because it was Luai's time.

Realistically, we have two absolute young-gun halves sitting in reserve grade right now who could both be superstars (Javon Andrews and Latu Fainu). If Luai is here next year, their pathway is blocked for another year, which could easily cost one, or even both of them. I'm not saying we're about to go on a run, but the truth is we simply have to keep these guys as they are potentially the next big things.

Can’t see how anybody would be surprised by this imo Luai included. He’s decided he will not finish his contract and the club is well within their rights to usher on the next option. We will not be in contention for top four next year imo. We have Andrew’s, Latu, madden and now Schuster. Along with Ad who has shown he’s currently the dominant. He hasn’t been in top form either.
Wouldn’t surprise me if this is not fresh and actually in the works for a while
Hope this all ends amicably with praise from each party

Im very surprised. Not because I disagree with it, i have been screaming for Benji to do it for all the reasons you mention, I just didnt think he would. Mad respect for Benji to make this call. He needed to.

Javon is a good runner and solid and in my opinion is a 6 not a 7
Have not even touched the sides with Andrews yet experience wise he has a hell of a lot.of upside.
I think the club will not be able to keep both, unfortunately Andrews misses out to keep bother happy.
I am not overly enthused by what latu has shown at present and is injured alot.
If Latu gets a good run next year with injuries it might change my opinion.
I would like to see Andrws get some nrl time

Always the players fault & never the clubs fault with our club ehhh
Of course it’s the clubs fault as well.
They hired this joker and fell for his bullshit, believing they’d found the golden ticket for the low price of $1.2million/year.
It’s not all his fault it’s Richardson, Benji, HBG and the dumbarses who preceded them.
