I have strong mail from one of the Penrith media crew that the reason Ivan publicly talked down Luai was because he's unhappy that Luai confirmed Nathan's relationship with Mary Fowler before anyone else on the Kyle and Jackie O Show. This happened in September.

I'm not against us signing Luai, he's a smart and creative player but he's also very cocky and he's not a leader. We went through 10 years of poor leadership with Luke. I'm happy with our halves for next year. At the very least we'll see if Benji's ideas and thinking works.

I don’t it think we have one. Api stood out more than anyone else this year, but as senior players, Klemmer and Papali‘i were really poor.

All I know is that we need a general that’s directing both our attack and defence, and with all the great teams in footy history it starts with the halves.

Really? I thought Klem was close to being in the conversation for Origin. His form did drop off at the back end of the season, but the same happened with most other players in the squad.

Probably was close to in the conversation for Origin but I think that is as reflective of NSW front rowers as it is Klemmer. Haas and to a lesser extent Trbojevic aside there isn't any stand outs.
The likes of the Saifitis, Paulo, Campbell-Gillard, Pangai, Utoikamanu were his competition. All good players but doubt I'd have any in the top 10 front rowers in the comp.

Geez I’m all for Luai coming and if it ends up that way, I’d be stoked. How long has it been since we had a half of his calibre and brashness even think about coming here?

Sure he’s a bit of an arrogant dick head, but what has he really done bad off and on the field apart from big noting himself and his team and mouthing off? As far as I know he hasn’t raped anyone, bashed anyone, bet against his own team or done any drunken rampages through the streets, so I can’t see why anyone would not want him here. Quite a few of the Penrith players have that air of arrogance about them, I guess that comes with all the success they’ve had. Fisher-Harris is a bit of a knob also, but I can’t imagine anyone not wanting him here.

The worst thing he has done is his best man speech at Brian To'o's wedding. That was a disaster. To'o looked like he was dying of embarrassment.
