OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Luai wasn't always a leader game manager so to speak......remember Penrith nearly always losing when Cleary was out 3 or 4 years ago.

But his leadership game has really improved over the last two years.

If it true and it is just a mental thing, he’s had 10 years to work on it. I don’t see him suddenly overcoming it now. He’s 28 and only played 72 first grade games. There are certain players who have played 3 times that amount of games and are considered by some as reserve graders.
So you agree with he’s unlikely to change his brain anytime soon as I said? See my edit point.
But for you to say he’s has no natural ability is still not correct.
🤷‍♂️

I agree with you on this.

He absolutely has ability he just comes across as taking the easy options with what he does & his brainsnaps are always costly which is why I never wanted him at the club.

Thats always been the issue. Most fans just see the flash and because we have struggled mixed with no other options they hope it will change.

He is 29 if he clicks now great but the odds are well against him.
Been plenty of players like him over the years. Loads of natural ability but can’t keep it together to make a decent career in the league. Owen Craigie and Daine Laurie are just two who come to mind, but there’s been plenty more I’m sure.

Just watched the BTR podcast with Luai. He was articulate, thoughtful and intelligent- if he performs half as well as he has carried himself during his first week at the club - he will be a fabulous recruit. I hope the rest buy in with him and the attitudes he wants to push. With him, May and Api, possibly Bird as well, we will have on field leadership that we have lacked for many years.
Exciting times ahead Tigers fans!!

It would be a brave player that defies him, just imagine the spray they would cop.

It would make the spray that Richo dished out to the players that were laughing about the flogging we were copping during spoon bowl pale into insignificance.

Because of almost him solely I’m close to renewing my membership for this coming year haha

I remember oy a few short years ago Luai was pretty much loathed by most clubs fans.... Close to the dickhead dogs hooker who's name escapes me atm level.
But he's matured outta site and I'm hoping he can have a positive influence with Naden that sees him mature somewhat as well and get the crap outta his game

Lots of people have come here wanting to make a difference and failed. Madge the biggest example of a guy who we all thought would change us, yet you could see the light slowly fade from his eyes the longer he was here. I'll reserve judgement on Luai until I see him play a few games.

At no point did I think Madge would change anything until the contracts he inherited were done & dusted. Didn’t have a snowflakes chance in hell.
