OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Great post, exactly how it should’ve gone down, imo. Jarome even offered to come off the bench, by all accounts, but Benji wouldn’t hear of it. Probably something to do with his big price tag! If Luai himself could see how much better Madden steered the team at half, then I think Benji needs to listen.
if Luai had played off the bench and we had got beat, the place would have had a complete meltdown and the media would have been all over benji and the team

You shouldn't mess with a winning formula. Just a coincidence our attack was clunky. Maybe Luai said he's okay to play reserve grade or come off the bench for a reason. Maybe he knows the team is better with Madden. The only problem is that price tag, such a burden. He does have a get out clause though. Maybe the Dragons are desperate.

He drives the team but is he really a good player when he's on the field? Noticing pattern recognition doesn't make you a dope.
All the low IQ's here saying without Luai we can't win the big games or he is a must have. All that matters is if you win footy games, who cares if people like having him around the club, your not here to be liked your here to win footy games period. People d**K ride Luai here like no tomorrow.... Madden is our true 7 that won us games off the back of his decision making and kicking game, Luai is more popular then Madden but who cares when all that matters is winning games and that's where Jock gets it right where Luai fails to do so. Luai since his arrival has been average at best. We etheir make the 8 with Jock being our number 7 all year or risk having another disappointing season, Luai isn't our saviour and it's time for people to wake up.

Twice you said you would put Luai on the bench, then claim you wouldn't drop him. Im sorry, but putting our captain on the bench is dropping him
NAR..Twice I said he should have started that game off the bench, after a injury, and Jock has done a great job, nothing about dropping him to the bench permanently or against Canberra or any other game .the discussion in on the tigers Broncos game .FFS HE even said to Benji I'm happy to come off the bench 😮‍💨

still don’t think Luai was ready, you can’t tell me with his knee so heavily strapped up that he was 100%. Weird to play him if he wasn’t fully fit seeing as we were humming along nicely

Gee there's some real dope's on this Forum. Jarome is a great player who drives the team. For those who don't get that, go back to your knitting (sorry you might need to be supervised with those knitting needles).
There will be some practicing do it yourself acupuncture on themselves with those knitting needles after a loss.

Anyone would think that we were expected to remain undefeated for the remainder of the season. 🤣

Long way to go and expect lots of twists and turns along the way.

Thai is exactly the point , Jerome is our most influential player , our energy leader our drive.. we are competitive because of the belief the team has bring on the field with him .. Benji knows this , that is why he is here.. no way on earth this team wins a semi final without Luai being in the team leading the way.. the team lift with him beside them , he is their standard
Yep . Staggs and Shibisaki defended really well . So did wighton . You gotta give these guys thier flowers . You simply can’t win every game in nrl . The Panthers almost lost to the dolphins ffs . The expectations are so unrealistic .

Low IQ ? Explain to me outside of generic talk what it is that makes the existing pattern so good ? Because for me it was simply getting it to the edge and exposing Decoursey and the word defensive winger in the comp . When they moved thier edge backrowers next to each other there was a complete slowdown of points .
The simple fact is , there’s not going to be bunny’s like that in every team . The bottom 10 sides … sure . But if you think you’re beating the panthers with never ending bloc shape then you’re a fool . Madden has a great kicking game , and engages the line really late . But he has zero running game , and offers very little outside of this . If you yourself are no threat , the defence will just slide off you and the edges will collapse on the link man out the back .
Which is exactly what the broncos did on Saturday night . So STFU and stop bitching . Because you don’t know what you’re talking about .

There are even lower IQs who think Luai will be dropped …

Regardless of what you think of his form .. they aren’t paying him $1.2 m a year to sit on the sidelines … it’s not a matter of “popularity “… them just the facts of life in the NRL..

He has got to be a lot better though … because he has been a negative influence in the two games they have lost this year IMO

Madden wins nothing on his own. Madden does his job he is not a saviour any more than Luai. He is benefiting from playing in a "team" that has been performing well. The two games we lost we pretty much beat ourselves no team we have played has dominated us and if they did Madden and Luai make very little difference.
ITS up to the coach to decide how to use the squad but it is a great position to be in because depth is key to being there at the right end.

So your sating start him off the bench but don't drop him....got it

Jock was halfback against Parra and we scored the same amount of tries. I don't think our attack is an issue. Brisbane defended well. Simple as that. So did Parra for that matter. We are on the radar - teams will turn up with a plan to knock us off.

4 critical errors- 2 dropped balls under no pressure and being bundled into touch. Not being aware of the kick to Mariner. Sorry, but we've put an 18 year old kid straight into firsts and he has cost us points in every game - it was just a matter of time before those errors cost us a game.

He will be ruthlessly targeted from now on if he wasn't already.

People are saying leave him in to protect his confidence, but I think the opposite is true. He needs more foundation in reserves to build back up. Take the pressure off him now.

Those mistakes are from fatigue and the lack of concentration that come with that. We talk about development, but he hasn't really had any. You can see it from a mile away, he's exhausted physically and mentally. There's nothing left in the tank. I don't think it's fair on him to put his feet to the fire the way we have.

He'll get there, but he's not good enough yet. Luke Laulili took 2-3 years (and multiple costly errors in firsts) before he was ready to be picked every week on his merits rather than potential.

Mak needs to go back to reserves and work on his shortcomings like all players have to. We shouldn't be training him in the big time.

I never make these calls because I do not think I know better than Benji or any of the coaching staff - but I have no doubt if we started with Madden and AD in the halves, we win.

Forget Maka. Game would have been won in the first half.
Bunji keeps telling us he’s there to make the hard decisions. Well the hard decision was to keep the winning side of 3 weeks, and to bring Luai off the bench!!
If they lost then revert back, simples…

Unfortunately, i think you are right, poor Hemasi looks defeated. I say this reluctantly, but he probably needs a break. If they do ,i am sure he will be back sooner rather than later as he is a genuine talent. He's in good hands with Benji. looks

Don’t understand the hate for Luai he has been good since last half of last year. Poor game back from injury and the hate is there from sections of fans. Interestingly enough same people that death ride Benji.
The hate is losing against a depleted Broncos.
We can do better.
We have tried the Luai and Doueihi combo for a number of games now and it AINT working!
Our success came when we had a traditional style half - manager.
Benji needs to swallow his pride and bring back Madden as the half.
Then discuss with Luai and Doueihi what game plan he wants and decide who is best to achieve that winning formula.
Back to you Benji, we are watching.

Yes and I don't say what I say with any malice or glee. I wnat him to do well, but at 18, are we saddling the apprentice up with too much responsibility too early? I think there's a bit of that at play here.

Mate we were about 3 minutes from losing to Parra. Don't forget that. By the grace of God we won that game.
