Look it this blokes career:

1) win 4 prems at panthers
2) move to a struggling wests tigers and be part of a rebuild under Marshall and gets it done (hopefully we're headed finals/top 4 in next two years)
3) move to PNG on MASSIVE money to be the face of an enormous new undertaking in rugby league...think of what it means for PNG and the people there

COME ON PEOPLE.... he's killing it....

But we could of held onto him for 2028 and I am pissed off because this has bigger implications on the rest of the team --- watch them follow

Who signed with us because of Romey. Yep no doubt it didn’t hurt having him here when negotiating with other players but Terrell said himself Romey didn’t play a part in his decision to come. Tito said the attraction was playing alongside Api & playing under Benji. Taylan came because his brother was here & Benji fully backed him to return to Nrl. Masi turned down Rugby to play under Benji. Royce signed because we offered a good deal & genuine crack at consistent Nrl. Not sure who else. Any player at any club coming off contract would be tempted by the tax free coin but I don’t think we lose players just on the Romey situation

The point is he wouldnt have been off contract.... but a result of poor mansgement and decisions that have never been addressed by those who made them, he remained off contract.
 
Disappointed if he leaves, but I also get it. I actually think JL will be pretty gutted about this and put everything in for the next 2 years. He’ll be upfront that it’s purely about setting up his family.

Hoping Javon, Latu or Madden is ready by then to take it in full time or we can snare another good half as well as using the spare money for keeping our current group.

The real issue will be if we lose a large crop of players. The NRL will strengthen one side with the tax free incentive, but it could decimate us if we lose the Mays/Fainus/Turuva for example. It’s not so big an issue if it’s a player from every team, but god I hope we don’t see a mass exodus following Luai.

Anyway, its not the biggest problem, could work out to be quite good actually, he's done his job by changing the culture and helping Benji.

And we'll have 1.2M to spend for 2028, either by buliding on a top eight finish or saying 'see you later', if we don't make the eight.
 
Him leaving hurts if you don't replace like with like. From a leadership standpoint it's a big loss and very hard to replace but we'll see where the money goes. Time to earn your money, Mielekamp.

Can't blame Luau for chasing the money but everything he says from here on out lacks integrity imo as it essentially puts his move to the Tigers down to money and nothing else.

Yes, he is just doing his job with us and has done so far however I don't think it's a good look to bail after three years after he talked it up so much.

Yes activated the clause for next year so Tiger in 27 and then sign with PNG for 28

Alot of people on here complaining he's not worth 1.2 and should be on the bench now he's going they are upset he's leaving not easy being involved with the Tigers

Jock AD Andrews and Latu in the halves next year

I think in 28 number 7 will be Latu 6 Andrews 13 AD and Jock playing for PNG
