Mate I love Benji…as a man and as a player.
Still very much convinced he isn’t a first grade coach though. I’ve said for years make him head of football and in charge of recruitment. He would thrive in that role.

I haven't written him off yet, seen enough early in the season when everything was rosey.

Can't knock recruitment though, this recent Averillo signing is a sign of maturity plugging a glaring hole, if we keep on improving the roster be it slowly, we might get to where we need to be.

Despite recent form, think back to the middle of the spoon age, hope was getting sucked into the black hole of despair.

While I think Benji has made some mistakes either bench rotation and some selections this year, I think 🤔 he has had such a horrid run of injuries to try to overcome combined with some poor depth and also some players and leaders he took a punt on letting him down at the most crucial of times.. players lost form when he backed them and also -layers playing with injury out of necessity and desperation meab% that we had very little strike out wide so could not really provide any attacking threat.. his consistency in working on a defensive culture is very impressive in that he is sticking to it under pressure and I really believe his squad is coming together and the rewards will come in the next couple of seasons.. imo Benji is learning on the job , and quickly

Great news for the club cutting ties this year as he has done what we needed.
He clearly has a club lined up otherwise you don't leave on that money for fun.
Latu to 6 with AD will be fun to watch.

We keep signing these 4 year deals saying "we need THIS player" and then 1-2 years later they are suddenly not the right fit.

If the board is right about anything, it is about Sheens and Benji being crap at identifying the right people to recruit. I totally get Fulton coming in to replace Sheen's pick. Not saying Fulton is the right guy.


I am saying that this is one of many major signings our club has done that have Blown up!
We need to redo how we target players. We cannot keep doing 4 year contracts we back out of 1.5 years in.

Luai made a call for his family which I applaud. Benji made a call for the tigers which I applaud. It’s simple he has to go. Shouldn’t play another range for the Tigers. He played poor and he had his chance he’s an origin player he plays poorly because he chooses to.

Good point re defensive culture

Our first 7 games we conceded on avg 18pg...the defence was great (for us anyway).....maybe next year we can do it for half a season.

Given the way he’s carried this team the last 3 years, the blood, sweat and tears he has expended, if there was one player you could excuse for saying “F this. I’m out,” it’s him. If your a handyman and making $70 an hour and the guy across they street offers you $140 an hour and you take the job we all know it's for the money and if you let the guy know that your working from month to month and can leave at the end of any month and you agreed to it

This honestly sounds like Benji had a dummy spit after Jerome took the PNG offer

The only thing that I am interested in is that Jerome told Benji behind closed doors about sticking out the full contact

But what baffles me is the guy who’s been paid the premium and still has all the leverage , has zero ground to stand on when the client decides they no longer want to apart of the arrangement . Especially after you’ve gone ahead and said , yea I’m out for even more money in 18months . Like I said earlier the social contract was already broken by Jahrome. What kind of mental gymnastics does your mind need to pull to reframe the scenario as you’re the victim .
I’m not anti Romey . He did what I would have done and looked after himself and his family . But the moment you do that , all goodwill is lost . Because as I said the social contract is yes tigers are paying you 300-400k overs , but both parties are now all in together . For better or worse. … and like I said he broke that contract . Because I’m sure the unspoken truth was the get out clauses were tokenism….. until they weren’t.
