OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Well his ego is obviously quite large.

How can he be surprised considering his form, does he think that he's worth more than what the Tigers have in stall for his wage.

And he decided to leave, it was him who through the first stone.

Fairdinkum?
I never said i felt sorry for him. He obviously had such a big ego he thought he was untouchable and it has caught him off guard.

Yeh guys like Jarome, Richo, PVL etc are not my cup of tea. I'm not a fan of outspoken, talk big type of people. But they're in positions that I'll never be in so maybe you need to have that big talking personality.
PVL walks the walk , talks the talk and gets things done , he is the real deal even if you don’t like his persona or attitude he gets shit done

Can we consider the bloke a human for a moment.

I think he came here with the best intentions.

When the boardroom drama reared its head again, chammas pounced.

We have to remember he has 4 kids and lives in sydney. So the offer was probably too good to refuse.

Benji even said that Jarome was emotional about making it.

Its also been reported here that he was actually in tears last night after the game.

I've also been told he was genuinely shocked and upset when the club told him he was free to leave.

We should be grateful for what he has done to help start the change process here. The club owes him nothing, because they paid him well. He owes us nothing either.

Its a business.

But at a human level, I think he is genuinely upset the club asked him to move on... And he was a good enough bloke to say yes for the betterment of the club (when he could have dug his heels in and taken the $1.2m).

He said some stupid shit. But he's a rugby league player in his 20s. Its part of the parcel.
As far as I’m concerned, he has stolen millions from our cap.
That tap has been turned off and I’m happy Benji stood up for the club.
That’s a boss move. Maybe there’s hope for him yet.

Stolen millions?
He trained every day that he could, he showed leadership when needed and he gave it all on the field.

If you can't see that, that's on you.

I am led to believe he genuinely wants the best for the club and juniors like Latu coming through.. so he was willing to take the $300k as a severance.. and backs himself to make up the rest
I don't think you can. Remember Turbo wanting to take a paycut for being injured a lot?

Once you've signed a contract, you have to be paid that amount under the Cap I am pretty sure.

Mate I love Benji…as a man and as a player.
Still very much convinced he isn’t a first grade coach though. I’ve said for years make him head of football and in charge of recruitment. He would thrive in that role.
I haven't written him off yet, seen enough early in the season when everything was rosey.

Can't knock recruitment though, this recent Averillo signing is a sign of maturity plugging a glaring hole, if we keep on improving the roster be it slowly, we might get to where we need to be.

Despite recent form, think back to the middle of the spoon age, hope was getting sucked into the black hole of despair.

While I think Benji has made some mistakes either bench rotation and some selections this year, I think 🤔 he has had such a horrid run of injuries to try to overcome combined with some poor depth and also some players and leaders he took a punt on letting him down at the most crucial of times.. players lost form when he backed them and also -layers playing with injury out of necessity and desperation meab% that we had very little strike out wide so could not really provide any attacking threat.. his consistency in working on a defensive culture is very impressive in that he is sticking to it under pressure and I really believe his squad is coming together and the rewards will come in the next couple of seasons.. imo Benji is learning on the job , and quickly

Great news for the club cutting ties this year as he has done what we needed.
He clearly has a club lined up otherwise you don't leave on that money for fun.
Latu to 6 with AD will be fun to watch.

It’s been a long time coming.
I haven’t enjoyed his stay with us one bit.
Batman?
Pigs arse.
Great decision by the club.
Cut the dead wood.
Look cut the dead wood, but lets get real.

Bateman, Luai, and so SO many players can't just be a them thing.

We keep signing these 4 year deals saying "we need THIS player" and then 1-2 years later they are suddenly not the right fit.

If the board is right about anything, it is about Sheens and Benji being crap at identifying the right people to recruit. I totally get Fulton coming in to replace Sheen's pick. Not saying Fulton is the right guy.

I am saying that this is one of many major signings our club has done that have Blown up!
We need to redo how we target players. We cannot keep doing 4 year contracts we back out of 1.5 years in.
