Have to say im not keen on it from the club and fan perspective however I suppose this is just a more extreme example of the TPA being independent of club and up to player and manager. Thats always been the mantra of the NRL and let's face it, clubs have been whacked for getting involved in TPA's.

Having said that now example has been set, they cant complain when, let's say I like scotch eggs (and I do) and I organise a TPA promoting scotch eggs in UK with a bit of Oz promotion as well, whilst I play with whatever NRL club, it's independent of the club and its a private commercial arrangement between player - manager- promoter.

Yeah but this is tied into PNG, it's blatantly obvious that he would not be doing promotional shit for Pepsi in PNG if they weren't coming into the comp. It's a joke it's been allowed.

No, he made a couple of crucial mistakes. Hopefully his head is in the game tomorrow and not on his promotional junket.

He might need a Pepsi before the game.

Whilst Madden’s overall kicking game wasn’t great, he showed nerves of steel to kick that last minute field goal.

I'm not sure they have any grounds to stop him. Players can get themselves unlimited 3rd party deals, he has just gone and got (another) one.

Whether or not it's linked to PNG directly is not the question. It at the very least can be considered at less than arms length because if there wasn't going to be a PNG team in 2028 for Luai to play at, Pepsi PNG would not be engaging him for his services. This TPA exists because he will play for an NRL franchise.

Yes it will be like , all the other teams will have there hands Tied behind there backs , for the NEXT 10 YEARS
NRL will think this was a bad idea at some stage

A PNG side in 2030 could work if the majority of their players are from PNG.

However, Albanese made a rash decision based on sloppy politics and China’s increasing influence within the Pacific.

A second NZ side, possibly from Christchurch, makes more sense.

Politics are interfering with sport, so I feel sorry for the Bears.

It's not even a sour grapes thing from a WT perspective because I feel like PNG has done us a massive favour in signing him, we were certainly not getting our moneys worth from him.

It's more just another "one rule for one, and one for the rest," vibe for me with these PNG deals. I can't to see the leg ups they get from refs in their first season.

All he is good at doing is talking garbage. Sooner the germ is gone the better.

That is an interesting take on his clauses and thinking about it could be pretty close to the mark. He is only locked in to PNG for 2 years with the third year as an option which could be why he doesn't have any clauses although now that he has signed a 5 year mega deal with Pepsi he may play out his career in PNG.

I don't know what you expect the club to do. Luai has every right to sign up for 3rd party deals no matter what team he is playing with. They have already shown him the door and i would imagine a fair bit would have been said behind closed doors about how the germ used us. thankfully all his crap and 3rd party agreements are going to be Parras problem.
