Have to say im not keen on it from the club and fan perspective however I suppose this is just a more extreme example of the TPA being independent of club and up to player and manager. Thats always been the mantra of the NRL and let's face it, clubs have been whacked for getting involved in TPA's.It's beyond belief that the NRL has allowed this to happen. No TPA's affiliated with the PNG franchise should be allowed to commence until he has started playing for them (i.e. November 1 2027.)

Having said that now example has been set, they cant complain when, let's say I like scotch eggs (and I do) and I organise a TPA promoting scotch eggs in UK with a bit of Oz promotion as well, whilst I play with whatever NRL club, it's independent of the club and its a private commercial arrangement between player - manager- promoter.
Farcical.Cleary has been offered a $6m contract by PNG.

No, he made a couple of crucial mistakes. Hopefully his head is in the game tomorrow and not on his promotional junket.Did last weeks win improve your perception?
I love how it says “they are weighing up” as if they have a cap to manage. Media outlets are weak as piss not calling this rort out.Farcical.

Where’s China setting up next?Farcical.
I'm not sure they have any grounds to stop him. Players can get themselves unlimited 3rd party deals, he has just gone and got (another) one.He could become the first $25m+ player earnings wise in the game at this rate.
It’s remarkable how well he is going off the field compared to on it.
Also how the club lets this happen under our watch speaks volumes of where our headspace as a club is at.
I hate this PNG team already
Perth better make good of any advantages they get in 27 because theyll.be forgotten and left to their own devices come 28 when the chiets come in

Yes it will be like , all the other teams will have there hands Tied behind there backs , for the NEXT 10 YEARSPerth better make good of any advantages they get in 27 because theyll.be forgotten and left to their own devices come 28 when the chiets come in
Whether or not it's linked to PNG directly is not the question. It at the very least can be considered at less than arms length because if there wasn't going to be a PNG team in 2028 for Luai to play at, Pepsi PNG would not be engaging him for his services. This TPA exists because he will play for an NRL franchise.
A PNG side in 2030 could work if the majority of their players are from PNG.
However, Albanese made a rash decision based on sloppy politics and China’s increasing influence within the Pacific.
A second NZ side, possibly from Christchurch, makes more sense.
Politics are interfering with sport, so I feel sorry for the Bears.
That is an interesting take on his clauses and thinking about it could be pretty close to the mark. He is only locked in to PNG for 2 years with the third year as an option which could be why he doesn't have any clauses although now that he has signed a 5 year mega deal with Pepsi he may play out his career in PNG.Quick question though? Our board is unstable, our club is unsuccessfull. 100% so i totally get wanting the clauses. But P.N.G are a whole new team who havnt even competed yet, with no real boardroom right now. Does he have clauses in his deal with them incase he or his family hate living there and its not working out. No. Why not. Why clauses in his contract for us who are established, allowing him to play where his family is established and are much more stable than a team that doesnt really exist yet. Because the new franchise was always the end goal and we were being used as a stop over lounge. Thats why he wanted clauses every year after the second one. They knew P.N.G was coming but used the money we were givong him as insurance he would be financially looked after for upto 5 years if the P.N.G gig was put off. Otherwisehe he would have put clauses into the P.N.G contract like he did with us. Seeing as how weve had more success than the P.N.G team and we are an established team. When i asked myself the question about him having the clauses in our contract and not the P.N.G contract i realised hes a germ. I hope his family hate living up there and he is miserable. All he is good at doing is talking garbage. Sooner the germ is gone the better.
I don't know what you expect the club to do. Luai has every right to sign up for 3rd party deals no matter what team he is playing with. They have already shown him the door and i would imagine a fair bit would have been said behind closed doors about how the germ used us. thankfully all his crap and 3rd party agreements are going to be Parras problem. He could become the first $25m+ player earnings wise in the game at this rate.
