OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

The problem is no-one appears to have a clue how to achieve that. We had the principal and owner of a law firm on our board for a while. I figure if anyone could come up with an appropriate strategy to get us out of HBG it would have been him.
We're still here.
A private owner that is focused on success, not a bunch of old men that are focused on their own interests.

"Forget the past and look forward to the future".. they say, with 3 magpies on the jersey, a magpies koe side and games at lidcombe.

** i know its only a handful.. there are plenty of magpies faithful on here who are fully onboard with the JV
The Wests Tigers club was formed in 1999. There is no first grade Western Suburbs Magpies or Balmain Tigers club anymore, apart from HBG continuing to do their best to live in the past.

Ok, so;
Step 1. Find a benevolent benefactor of infinite means.
Step 2. Convince said benefactor to invest in a team that has been on the sidelines for twenty years with three recent wooden spoons, but has a good logo.
Step 3. Convince HBG to sell, when they have no obvious incentive to do so.
I'm not holding my breath.

And those that are onboard are sick death of the constant barrage of BS against wests. By all means hate on HBG but the constant attacks on the magpies while staunchly defending anything said against balmain is boring to say the least.

Luau will play some of his best footy at Eels.
A. He will have a class half.
B. He will have incentive. He needs to continue raising his profile for whatever big 3rd party deals he has or about to have.
All these old retired media contracted players are livid that their careers gave them all the thuggery for low pay.

I dont defend Balmain. Both sides are as backward as each other. Balmain escape criticism because they are non existent and have no power to further drive the club into the ground. Its the Wests side causing the chaos. They might be called HBG, but it is Wests. I know you might not like that, but its reality. If Balmain were majority owners and as rubbish as the Wests owners, i'd be equally as vocal. I have ties to both sides, probably more so Wests because my grandfather played for them.

The money grab didnt bother me and shouldnt bother any adult who need to provide for their family. But the trip to png post cowboys game and not turning up to the end of season awards are an issue. He couldnt have gone out the right way, but didnt.

I once heard Nathan talk about how jarome was the better player growing up. I reckon theres an element of jealousy that Nathan is the one who kicked on.
I am sure Jerome will be ok and think he kicked on from juniors. Four premierships, captain of Samoa, Origin, and after all the tax free dollars and PNG sponsorships may end up with even more cash than Nathan.

While I'm glad he's gone, I still don't think he was a bad signing. He got a few players to sign here and mentored a few young blokes on how to be a professional. He wasn't playing well enough to justify his pay, but his departure has freed up pathways for our young guns, and allowed re-signing key players.

I won't be wishing him well, but I also won't send hate his way. Kind of a "k bye" situation, it's done, he's not important anymore.
