Jason Taylor - Fox interview

JT left that studio looking better in the public eye than when he walked in, must have been tempting to unload on our primadonnas

Old JT has taken a lesson in what not to say.
However his facial expressions, lip biting and squirming seemed to be saying something different.

Would have loved JT to have not held back on that show. He said something along lines of "I know what was said behind closed doors" or something to that effect, but he would not elaborate when asked to say what he knew. He made it pretty obvious IMO that he knew Woods and Tedesco especially had stitched him up behind his back and played a major part in him getting sacked. That was why he slipped into them regarding their umming and ahhing over contracts.
He obviously didn't unload because it wouldnt have looked good to any prospective employers within the NRL, but it would of been fascinating to hear him tell it straight what happened.

Apparently already landed a media gig with Fox?

Special comments or something for this Sunday's telecast isn't it? Surprised that Fox picked him up, maybe just got him on board for a week or two while he is current news.

They should get him for Saturday night. He could point out some of the lack of commitment from some of the players on the field

He was a very average coach but had no chance and was treated disgracefully. His insights were great very classy after such bad treatment.

If the 4 of them had said we wont be signing if JT is coach - and then signed immediately once JT was punted, i would agree with you.

hearing that woods and teddy are looking at their options - i believe they are questioning if this is the club for their future / what ever the reasons are.

if it was just the coach, they would have signed.
the new coach comes with all of respect from anyone and everyone that is someone within the game

I dont believe woods or Teddy are the type of kids to get the coach sacked only to then walk away themselves.

He was stitched up IMO. Management no doubt would have sought the opinion of Woods and Tedesco when deciding whether to keep Taylor on as coach and it looks like those 2 gave him the thumbs down. Put it this way Woods and Tedesco never publicly stated that they wanted Taylor as the coach going forward, listen to players from other clubs who are 100% behind their coach and they keep saying that they want the coach to stay on. That never happened for JT.
Absolutely fair enough if they didnt want JT as coach but to me it looked like the players used JT as a bargaining tool to raise their own price in contract negotiations, he goes or we go sorta thing and it looks like they are all hitting the road anyway.
The off contract players are coming across as spineless wallopers in all of this. Hope they all go and take their half-hearted mercenary ego's elsewhere.

I don't think for 1 second woods or Tedesco are the type of guys who would say - him or us - to get Taylor fired and then leave themselves.

I could be wrong. Sure.
say what you like about them if they leave, but I just don't think they are that kind of people.

When you have zero cap space you are on a hiding to nothing as a coach. I doubt very much Cleary would have taken the role on if it was still going to be a chain around our necks. Hope he realises how lucky he is.

Nor will Cleary have the Farah millstone around his neck - very lucky indead!!

I would like to acknowledge the tenacity and perseverance of JT. The way he stuck to the boards and his vision in extreme circumstances. He came in with no money to spend and just fell short of getting us to the finals last year. We were tipped for the spoon. It reminds me of his time at Souths. On both occasions he has been sacked, knowing the following year he would be able to pick and choose his own quality players. Cleary, is now set to reap the rewards of all the ground work that JT and the board have undertaken. For this, I feel sorry for JT.

Cleary should be able to field a very competent and competitive team next year with all the extra money he has at his disposal. If we do not make the finals next year, questions must be asked? He has no monetary issues to deal with. I would also like to ask why no one has mentioned nepotism or boys club with Ivan's appointment and his connections with management? Go Weststigers!

I consistently called for JT's sacking, so I'm pleased that we have a new coach. I didn't see the interview, but his composure under pressure had always been a big part of the problem, so its good that he got through the interview with dignity.

Management have some questions to answer. Why was JT coach throughout the off season, then dumped after just three games, one of which we won. That doesn't sound like a plan to me, it sounds like confusion. I wonder if JT had a blow up with someone or some other kind of meltdown, that is his history as a leader.

I was one of those who thought it was probably an "us or him" thing between Taylor and the 4\. I'm starting to doubt that now. If it was the case then they would have all signed by now. It's even possible that they didn't even want Taylor gone. Maybe they really are all just sick of the indecision and uncertainty.

Taylor again showed great class last night on the telecast. He was well within his rights to be bitter towards WT but he actually picked us to win before the game and looked genuinely happy that the boys pulled off the upset. He has gone up massively in the eyes of many and rightly so. Good onya JT.
