Jason Taylor on BSB 6.1.17

Was interviewed by James Smith and Andrew Webster this morning. Nothing major came out of it. Main points:

* New defensive structures under Stringer and Webster looking good
* Confident of resigning Teddy, Moses, Brooks and Woods
* Best pre season ever etc etc
* Moses and Littlejohn the two standouts in pre season
* Idris definetly playing center, looking good and has gone down from 123kgs to 114kgs, still a bit to go

Thanks for the link GEO,I thought JT spoke pretty honestly and openly,it gives me more confidence about the coming season…a good preseason puts you in good stead for the season ahead..I like that he stated that Jama was bought for no other position but centre,an area we needed a specialist player...looking forward to some trials and the season proper....

Some more points from the interview:

Goal = top 8
Great attitude from players, training hard, standards growing compared to past years, few injuries in his first year at the club, improving training standards, fittest team has been since he took over, working hard at this.
re. RF stuff - was a distraction, nice its not the case this off season. Don't let distractions take team off focus.
Results in 2017 wont be a fluke, they'll be based on hard work
Working hard to re-sign WoodsTeddyBroses, want to get this done ASAP, also focusing on getting the squad prepared properly for 2017\. No priorities as to who to sign first as wants to re-sign all. Depends when they're ready to sign. Confident to be able to re-sign all.
Very happy with Mitch, his game went to another level late last year & continued through pre-season. Led the way skills wise & physically. JLJ pushing him & the squad.
Defence - AW & PS have been added to the coaching squad to assist. Both working hard to improve defence. Very excited about how the team is being coached.
Jamal - lost his phone, but otherwise training well, as above, dropped 10 or so kgs, showing great signs at training. Def signed as a centre but may change if need-be.

Naturally the club would publicly make it known they want to re-sign all four, but I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't be willing to sacrifice one to keep the other three if it came to the crunch, which realistically you would think it very nearly will. And the obvious sacrificial lamb is Brooks. Could be part of the reason JT is talking up JLJ. That and to put a rocket up Brooks which he sorely needs.
