Jason Taylor vs Robbie Farah: Better Career?

Souths should be better, I hear they've picked up a top line Hooker for next year. Cheap too.

Picked up another season ticket holder too. It's all up for Souths!

For someone who has no idea what he's writing about, you make no sense at all
But keep it up , it's actually quite funny.

A top line hooker won't do them much good for next week, they'll be holidaying in the Maldives by then goldcoasttiger.
Souths don't accept mediocrity you reckon? Overall they've been the most pitiful team of the last 15 years just about. Jagged a NRL-assisted premiership once and have been bog ordinary nearly every other year in that timeframe.
There aren't too many coaches in history that have had an average roster and been successful. Robinsob and Madge have proven that this season as well, and the Roosters had a pretty decent squad this season.

Yeah I missed that one

How far back do you want to go
They did have good players this year, and they have to improve next year on that by a long shot but my opinion is that they will be up near the top next season,
Your opinion may not be the same, that's fine

Everyone has slammed the analysis of stats, but left out that Farah has also captained NSW & won a premiership, both of which JT never did in his playing career.

Analysing them from simply a playing perspective, Farah was the second best hooker of his generation, behind arguably the best hooker in the history of the game in Smith. JT was barely in the top 5 of his generation behind the likes of Johns, Langer, Stuart, Kimmorley, Toovey.

As a coach, JT had mild success at the start of his career, but has essentially failed to do much at any of his appointments. He's also a divisive figure within the playing group (can't be argued) & has divided the fan base - read into all of that what you will.

JT was a very astute half - always thinking, real good kicking game and a good defender. Not the fastest but made up for that by out thinking the opposition. Tough as teak and hardly ever missed a game. His goal kicking to my mind was a bonus - and he was brilliant at that.

Wouldn't a player with those attributes be handy for Wests right now…

Our current players need fortitude - something like Taylor displayed throughout his playing career and is again displaying as a coach.

What about Farah's career as a coach?

Jason Taylor was ever only a goal kicker. He couldn't tackle very well and didn't like being tackled hence offloaded the ball most of the time. He had some good games for Wests and Norths when the forwards were going well but in no way would he ever be considered a state of origin standard half back … I'm sure Warren Ryan would agree with that summation ... I think the wok did something similiar to Taylor as Taylor did to Farah ... Just not as extreme.

He wasn't a match winner,( apart from his kicking) but the could make some ordinary players look a lot better.

And you would of been saying the same thing before this season started hey.

I expected both Souths and the Roosters to be higher up, , but I was wrong, I just don't think that they will hang around there for long, their clubs dont accept failure to well.
And both Coaches won't be letting it go on for too long

Souths don't accept failure? Except between 1990 and 2011 when they picked up half a dozen wooden spoons

Absolute gold hey. Souffs don't acceot failure!!! Heard it all now.
Clutching at straws by signing a dud hooker that nobody else. wants. Bottom feeders again next year.

Taylor left wests. Ryan didn't punt him.

I don't think that he had much choice

Rubbish. He disliked the coach and had a bigger offer from norths. Wests wanted him .
No comparison at all.

1990, What about 1980s , or 1970s.
I'm talking about since Madge arrived.
Yes they've had some bad years, along with a premiership, but they are still likely to pull back ahead of a lot of teams next season. Farah will love having some big fast forwards around him, it'll be a whole new experience for him

Ryan made sure that he left, and Louis
wasn't his greatest fan either

Who? The dropsy twins? They can't catch balls that hit their chest let alone the crap Farah will dish up.

goldcoasttiger do you even like the tigers? You have already written them off for next year and you seem to do nothing but bag them. You seem to find good things to say about every team except your own. I don't get it.

He does, its just the thought of seeing them succeed under JT makes him nauseous. As it does for a few posters.

Robinson & Potter started coaching NRL first grade in the same season .
One was given a team of rep players to coach & got accolades for winning a comp .
The other given a basket case & only lasted 2 years .

Now with a lesser ( but still good ) roster to coach , the dally m coach of the year in 2013 isn't as good as he seemed .
Would he have gone better than Potter did at the WTs ? I doubt it .

The spend most of the time at the pointy end of the comp.

Is Segeyaro coming back to Aus?

How would you know, that hasn't happened yet, and isn't likely to until we get a coach.
