OFFICIAL Jeral Skelton #294

Lauliili brother back is in my starting team?? jumping threads here ,about the only sane thing GNR said lately is the thought of keeping brothers happy will cruel us

Hopefully this guy really develops.

Good to sign someone with a bit of size out wide.

It looked glaringly obvious especially late in the year our backs are way to small.

Skelton needs to embrace footage of John Hopoate his ‘Prime’ when he was unstoppable along the sideline. I don’t care if he reaches for the occasional bags of nuts.

Nothing wrong with players getting some experience training in different positions in the off season, that's when you have time to experiment.

When it comes down to it he's likely our first choice winger at this stage. We need his size, power and athleticism on the wing for both attack and defence, kick defusal etc

Hope he can embrace beast mode fulltime on the wing for a decade at the Tigers but at 191cm 104kg (before off season training). The blokes big enough, bigger if he wants it, heck, bigger then the majority of forwards the Tigers have put on the park over the last 2 decades. Its only a matter of time before he transitions into the forward pack if he wants a long NRL career. Numerous examples of backs going into the forwards. Wiki, Luke Lewis, Flipper hands Rowdy and 150 others. First lets just see how he goes for a season on the wing/centres and if he can even retain a starting spot or sink into oblivion.

No, I liked him there. Running down a centre channel
he was carving up in 7's Oz. Coaches must have
watched the tape. You know I'm a rugby man I've
watched him on the 7's circuit. 4/3 is perfect 4 us...
Turuva is a specialist, gr8 finisher. He's a winger.
How would he go defending in the centers...toughest spot for D. his lateral movement needs to be top notch

He averaged 210 run meters playing wing last year. Something we really lacked coming out of our own end.
Yikes

So we have Romey + Galvin in the halves and I hope that means a mobile play the ball.
We have Turuva who was an incredible strike winger for the riff.

I had not liked the idea of Turuva in the Centers, But put Turuva + Skelton you have a very fast side that could be very interesting. You add Olam + Staines or whoever on the other side and we suddenly have a decent backline. Shame that many haven't played together... defense will take time.

Mate he played 7s rugby at the international level! Lateral movement should not be an issue. Always played as an open side flanker in the 15’s game so very used to the physicality of contact. The defensive issue will be making the right decisions, - hold, slide, come in etc. It is the same for players transitioning between either code! Watch Sualli? against England. Totally misread the play and luckily the pass missed the target and Kellaway scores.

Did we buy him as a second rower or just something that you see in him that you think he would be better suited there ?
Too sooky for the 2nd row: He needs to lose the Mat Seers whinging whining face every time he get up from a tackle or rival forwards would belt the sook. Best suited to the wing.

Was also on the receiving end. This tackle kind of sums up the curse of the Bears. Cost them a GF appearance. Ironically the guy who tackled him went on to have one of the most famous moments in GF history in that game. World works in strange ways.

Yep, that one too. All effort from Albert, backed himself to catch one of the games fastest.
Marika Koroibete like.
