Well that's your opinion but mine is that he shows up for about 60 minutes a year and they are divided among the three origin matches. He has been a passenger for Penrith for a long time now. Picked in Origin on name only and plays alright off the bench. I know he has the skill but he hasn't put in at club level for years and I am not willing to accept any reasoning for that. If he didn't have his heart in playing for Penrith then that makes him overrated. Great footballers play to win no matter what the circumstances. Ben Barba has effectively quit football because of his off field issues and he still slayed all stars and scored three tries. After years of supporting a team of guys that lack heart I can pick them out and Lewis as much as he has a reputation of being a tough, no nonsense full of heart player, goes missing as often as the best of them. Here's to him returning to form at the Sharks though. I do like the guy.

Smith is alright , overrated ? I dont know. But I know one thing…Adam Blair Is overrated and while he starts for the WESTS tigers we are one player short on the field.

That doesn't mean everyone here was on board with that though. I know some here weren't.

I love Luke Lewis, he is an asset to any team he is in…but even I struggled to see why we were willing to sink that much money into him at a time we need to concentrate on other positions, also we seemed to have zero cap space.

I guess I wouldn't have turned him down, but I'm half glad we didn't get him.

Yeh im generally against opportunistic recruiting…..but in our case its probably the only way we'd get a decent player.

Sitting down and looking at what we have & what we need hasnt seemed to work for WTs for quite some time

lewis wasn't just good off the bench for nsw, he was also good for penrith. he was just surrounded by a bunch of poor players. there were some games where lewis would single handedly keep panthers in the game.

as for smith, he will so some damage to us. he runs strong like a front rower and hits hard in defence. he is a good pickup by newcastle, and will be a bigger loss to cronulla than they think
