I just noticed that Jesse Parahi had been picked to play the Aussies in the sevens for world cup qualifiers. i know he was there before we signed him but why wouldnt he be training with us now that everyone has gone back

Yea I don't get this either. A few weeks ago I saw him say on Twitter that he was playing in these games before starting pre-season training. I guess it just has to do with when his 7s contract officially ends…

The thing I find interesting about this is that it is the Olympic year he is leaving.

He is in the squad, you'd have to at least think he is a good chance to go to the olympics, I wonder why he isnt trying to do that.

Either he has always dreamed of making it in league, or he knows he wont make the olympics when some high profile 15's players join the 7's.
7's is such its own animal now though, it will be difficult for players to transition in time, that said freaks like SBW and Beauden Barrett will have no problems I imagine, and someone like Izzy (if recovered in time) could probably do it on his ear, the vast majority prob wouldnt.
Anyway I digress.

He starts training with us on the 17th. He has been to the club a couple of times over the last 2 weeks but can't train until his contract is up and they are playing him on 14th and 15th. I imagine while 7s seems a great idea it would be a hard lifestyle as you get older because you are travelling non-stop all year which makes it hard to have a family and relationships plus I understand he wants to have acrack at league before he gets too old

I understand all that, but one more year and he could be an olympian!

Imagine being single in the olympic village, what a 2 week experience that would be for the yongsters… if only I was better at something!

I'm looking forward to seeing how he adapts coming back to league. He's got a good skillset and looks pretty mobile. I'm hoping he puts plenty of pressure on for a backrow spot, looks a far more likely prospect that Lovett who is very one dimensional.

We just got up over the powerhouse of Nauru 62-0…

Don't think Jesse got many minutes

Watching him in the clear he is definitely a forward for those who have suggested a possibility of him playing centre. Looks quite solid I'm build or os that because there arnt many big guys out there?

Watched him play the Cook Islands game

Scored with his first touch , but how you can read much into a game that has 7 players and against the Cook Islands is debatable

Final V Tonga Ch.506..4pm…

Hopefully Jesse gets a run...in his last 7's game...

Since sevens has become serious, they pick a certain type of player in the program.

He'll definitely test the house down in the explosiveness tests (standing jump, 40m times etc) cause they all do, and we will be a terrific tackler, which hopefully translates to a good defender.

Will be interesting to see how they go. Sevens is geared towards great athletes

There was a story in my local paper about him. Apparently he played league as junior for Kincumber.

Didn't he spend some time at the Bulldogs as well at some stage ??

Unless it was the Budgewoi Bulldogs I don't think they care.
