OFFICIAL Jock Madden #244

Going to assume he'll be on significantly less than Bud.

He's played 32 1st grade games. Bud has 48 to his name. You need guys with some experience in reserve. I don't think we hated Madden when he was here. He's just not....special.

And that is ok. His job will be to NOT
The Tele was saying yesterday Madden was contracted next year at $350, so doubt he is taking a haircut on that with apparently 3 suitors after him …

they are paying Bud $550k a year as welll… if he moves on, we will see how much they save ..this year apparently it was the League minimum $150K…

So on a worse case scenario they might be paying their reserve grade half back $750 k next season across the two dud contracts

Good backup halfback. We need depth across the park. In the forwards particularly second row, lock.

Is this confirmation there won't be a bud Sullivan in tigers colours next year??? Or maybe, bud Sullivan is staying and douehi has chosen to sign elsewhere??? Pretty handy to have jock and bud as starting halves in reserve grade, and to be called upon into first grade when required...
I think its Bud Nadz, as Benji just spoke today about keeping AD and they would have held off Madden if they were waiting on AD decision.

We can only hope anyway

The people saying they like him … what good memories do you have of his first stint here ?

I remember him losing us the game dropping the ball in the in goal final minute against the Titans in 2022 ..

Very Tigers way to lose that one … desperation last play kick hits the up right and Mads fumbled it

My brain was working differently and thought it may be a signing to help cover the possible departure of Luai( perhaps he’s already made his intentions clear to Bm)?
Or am I being too cynical ?

Yes Hal I think you are mate logic would suggest Bud is on the way-out said a few times in the media that Souths feels like home.

In the past we might have been dumb enough to carry both but surely not now.

He was good in reserve grade. The Magpies actually looked cohesive when he was here.

Didn't see any rumours about this signing, although I don't read the signings/rumours thread all the time. Good work by the club keeping it under wraps.

It’s a back up half. I don’t think it’s an insurance policy for Luai. He’s the perfect backup halfback - first grade experience, doesn’t overplay his hand, happy to spend most of the year in KOE but can step in and do a job when needed. Most clubs (the good ones anyway) have someone like him in their top 30.
