I would hold him back till next year, I really don't like the idea of having a half make his debut when he hasn't played football for a year. Give him the preseason training in the role so he can hit the ground running.

I would agree with you had he not played in the trial six months back, though as he went okay for a first up run, gaining experience of the lift in both defence and physicality, then training with the squad since, I see no issue in playing him. Given the option, would have had Jock playing alongside Luke this weekend for some half the match and adding more minutes each week if he shows an ability to handle it.

It is often the number of consecutive matches that find out youngsters, but that should not be an issue with only a few rounds to go and allow him and the coach to work on appropriate areas of his game.

While I don't agree with you, I don't have a major problem if that is what we decide to do.

Give him a shot. We know what we have with everyone else. He was certainly one of the better players on the entire field in the trial. Admittedly Brent Naden made everyone look stupid that day so I don't know how good a game it was to judge.

Jock has been training and building a combination with Blore on the right hand side.

Hopefully both are starting on that right edge next season.

Theyve played together on the same side through junior reps including the u18s and u20s state of origin. As well as Talau.

No room for Talau?

Talau hasn't looked anything exciting yet, need real power in our team

The only player in our backline who has looked dangerous is Nofoaluma. Until we start playing with some shape no one else is going to stand out.

I agree we need some power though, but it has to start in the middle so our forwards can lay a platform for the backs.

Im going to say something very controversial. Everytime Mbye has gone back to FB he has looked great in attack, better than AD. Mbye has a stunningly good pass. Mbye has great defence although defending at FB is a different beast. His achilles heel at FB is catching bombs but he hasnt been tasted in the brief stints he has had this year.

Surely catching bombs can be a learned skill. I was a FB as a young bloke and we would practice it for hours and it was a confidence thing. Surely if we had Mbye on a ball machine over christmas he could come good. We would never get value for money but if he is the best in the club there, just do it.

Mbye
Nofo
BJ
AD
Some good fast bloke
Brooks
Madden if the hype is real

If Madden can live up to the hype, this is potentially a backline that could work behind a good pack.

And it's what he's being paid for.

I really like Mbye as a fullback in attack, he also organises the defensive line really well. The issue under the high ball is a major problem though.

Agreed, but refuse to accept it couldnt be learned. I think its 90% confidence. He has everything else.

Hopefully he performs brilliantly and another team is dumb enough like us to get fooled after 4 good games at fullback.

I totally agree re: Mbye. He has every tool needed to be good fullback, if only he could catch bloody bombs. His organisational skills at the back are up there with the best in the NRL. Biller Slater, the best defensive fullback ever, said he was extremely impressed with that aspect of his game.

The reason he was initially moved away from FB was because his high ball drops were costing us a try per game. If he sorts that out I think he should have another long crack.
