i heard Lee Hagipantelis on 2SER this morning saying something along the lines of that theyre close to reaching some sort of an agreement with JA's manager and that there could be an announcement this week.

Been a ex agrade coach , when putting a team together my 1st thought always was I need a forward pack that will hold there own at the very least . After that a need a 1/2 back who can lead the team around the park and implement my game plan . Followed by a good fullback who can talk and organise the defence line , other than that sometimes u have to make do with what u have , so let’s face it we don’t have the 1st thing on my list , a dominant pack , so until Madge can get a mongrel pack we ain’t going anywhere .

The pack is looking better than last season at least.
Musgrove was good if he stays on the park.
Blore should be better after a preseason.
Tamou - Welcome addition
Leilua L - Our best player should improve
Stefano - Needs game time but out to prove himself

MIKAELE - Playing for a contract in 2021
Garner - Needs to improve D, Attack solid.
TWAL - Not great should improve
Liddle - Full Pre-season for a change.
Simpkin - Should get some game time

So overall i think our pack is better than last year and i am not including ALOIAI as won't be around.

There's some talent there. What concerns me is the lack of experience and NRL weathering.

For example:
Simpkins: Yet to play NRL
Blore: 125 mins of NRL experience
Stefano: 24 mins of NRL experience
Liddle: Played 180 mins all year. Missed a lot of matches over the years
Musgrove: Played 180 mins all year. His last game before that was 2017

Good point but also maybe based upon limited game time i assume most will be ripping in this off season to earn a spot which might mean all the forwards raise there level?

Brisbane forward Joe Ofahengaue is on the verge of completing his move to the Wests Tigers. The Australian understands the deal has been largely agreed and it is now a matter of completing the paperwork.

Ofahengaue’s shift south could be finalised as early as Thursday afternoon. The Queensland forward has two years remaining on his deal with the Broncos, but Brisbane have cleared his departure and will help pay his salary this season and potentially next.

Ofahengaue is coming off a disappointing season for the Broncos, but at his best he is a State of Origin player and the Tigers will be hoping to can recapture that form.

His arrival should clear the way for disgruntled forward Josh Aloiai to move to Manly with immediate effect, the Sea Eagles having already made an offer for 2022 and 2023.

Aloiai was involved in an ugly public stoush with the Tigers after making it clear he wanted to leave straight away. Tigers chair Lee Hagipantelis insisted he was going nowhere, claiming Aloiai would be forced to mow the grass if he didn’t want to train.

However, the Tigers are now expected to allow him to leave, having landed Ofahengaue as a replacement. The club has had a busy off-season, having also signed South Sydney centre James Roberts on a one-year deal with the option of a second year.

Wests Tigers may have finally resolved the saga with rebel forward Josh Aloiai, after securing a former State of Origin enforcer.

Joe Ofahengaue’s move to the Wests Tigers is imminent with the Maroons forward expected to join the club on a multi-year deal.

The signing will end the saga surrounding Josh Aloiai at the club and allow the prop an immediate release to join Manly before his return to pre-season training on Monday. It is understood the Tigers, Broncos and Ofahengaue have agreed on the move with just the final paperwork to be signed off. That could happen as early as Thursday afternoon

The deal is expected to be for three seasons with the Broncos contributing six figures in the first two years to ensure the deal was agreed upon. Ofahengaue still had two years left on his Broncos contract but was free to negotiate with rivals. The Dragons expressed an interest in the 25-year-old but withdrew their offer last week.

The signing should also allow Tigers to release Josh Aloiai after his public falling out with the club.

Ofahengaue is another positive signing for the Tigers joining the likes of James Roberts, James Tamou and Stefano Utoikamanu at the club next season. They also re-signed emerging back-rower Shawn Blore and secured Penrith fullback Daine Laurie from 2022.

Alolai will now be free to link up with the Sea Eagles on a three year deal as a replacement for Addin Fonua-Blake.

The Sea Eagles have also expressed an interest in Tigers back-rower Luke Garner

agree that is not compensation from Manly that is WT signing Joe O totally separate.
Manly still need to give us something for JA

Agree, but looking like it will only be the cap space, I said earlier, hopefully they have a plan B to compensate?

Seems strange that signing Joe allows Manly not to compensate the Tigers (if this is how it plays out) given that Joe now replaces JA, yet when the Storm signed 2 wingers these signings did not compensate the Storm for JAC's pending move to Sydney??
