Piss weak management.. getting no players in return for the snake..

Meh..cash in the hand is better than a 25-30 squad player..

Genuine question. Where does the cash go? Does it just go to WT ownership?

Hopefully could be used on something decent to help the squad

Yeah I haven’t seen any reports on how the money can be used. Would be interesting to know.

Into revenue I would say..

So who's gonna dish the scoop as to how much they paid us? Has to be at least 100k or this is a fail and Pascoe should be under pressure.
We could have signed Joe and kept Josh until a suitable offer was made. I think Joe is superior but that doesn't mean Josh should be allowed to get away with murder. 2 separate issues

Can’t disclose the amount but is 6 figures.
Now the plan is to throw part of that at Panthers in a bid to release Laurie.
Laurie is the next priority so we can have a full off season with future spin.
Musgrove also offered new 2 year deal.

Im with you..weve had our best forward poached the past 2 years and waved them goodbye

By my calculations we still have a squad of 28, which means we probably hav at least one more signing to go before round 1

Aloiai's salary is off the Tigers' cap, and the space created has been used to sign Ofahengaue.

Do you think the Tigers should have restricted themselves to only the Manly Sea Eagles roster when it came to finding a replacement for Aloiai? Because the fact that Manly wanted to sign a prop suggests to me that they may not have that much available in the prop position.

I wish people could be more realistic about this sort of thing. Aloiai spat the dummy and acted unprofessionally, but the Tigers' choices were (a) to just live with a roster spot taken by a guy who doesn't want to play for them but they still have to pay, or (b) be creative to reassign that cap to a suitable replacement. By waiting until they have a replacement, the Tigers are "playing hardball" with Aloiai AND looking after their own interests.

"But why do clubs never release players to the Tigers early?" Well, perhaps it's because a lot of the players we sign early are on development or minimum contracts and thus there's no incentive to let them leave. If Parr and Penrith had to replace Utoikamanu and Laurie they'd only have minimum salary to do so - basically it would mean a kid or some guy off the street. The Tigers had the opportunity to use Aloiai's money to sign a rep prop with freight being paid by his old club.

Time will tell if Aloiai or Ofahengaue is the better player, but it's pretty clear that Ofa was a better option FOR THE TIGERS IN 2021. Any talk of getting tough or setting an example would be, clearly and undeniably, at the expense of the quality of the 2021 playing roster. That would be the stupid move, not arbitrarily demanding Manly "make it right" or taking petty, vindictive action against a player who clearly doesn't want to be here.

We still have the $$ put aside for JAC cld have used this to buy JO/Robertts and still have plenty of change.Personally Im disappointed we cldnt keep JA for 2021...its one step forwards and one backwards
History now
Musgrave a key signing to lock up(whatever that means with WTs)..he looked our best when on the park

Abit hard to make judgement,I personally would of liked to see Tigers hierarchy stick to what they said, make Josh stay at the tigers this year. Two years in a row now they have rolled over to let two of there best players leave.
On the other hand you can see some logic in why they released him
1.Unmotivated and poor attitude keeping him around teammates
2.Some type of compensation being offered
3.The use of Josh A’s $$ for possibly another signing
4.Extra top 30 spot which is really needed

Welcome to the mighty WT Joe. Hope to see him rekindle his pre 2019 form and play a role in us having a pack that consistently goes forward. Savvy piece of work from the club given the Broncos will be chipping in.
As for JA, being a footnote is a fitting end given the way he is exiting the club.

I was once told - always leave how you want to be remembered. JA undid a lot of good work in this last month. He is an immature man.

Very unwise to burn your bridges like Aloiai has done.

That would be smart management to use that money to get Laurie. Musgrove will have a good year for us so good to extend him too

Thank you, I think the fact WT aren't disclosing the amount we got from manly is a big mistake. It makes us look weak, because it looks like we aren't announcing how much we got from Manly because if we announced it everyone would know we were weak. We had a chance here to stand up to these players, and instead we caved. We even tried to stand tough, Leo coming out and talking tough, and then in less than a week it's all hush hush sort it out behind closed doors.

Lesson we hopefully learned here;
1. Leo needs to not say things in public and then go back on them. He should NOT have said that rubbish about being tough on Aloiai and the comment about mowing lawns and painting sheds. Now he looks like a liar.

Lessons we did not learn here;
1. Letting Aloiai go for "x" amount of money will NOT deter a player from trying it again in the future at our club. It was a poor effort, there is absolutely no deterrent to prevent a player doing it again in the future. You can pretty much guarantee they will within the next 12 months. Disappointed we are still soft.

The irony is that we were screwed over by Aloiai the scummy and Manly, and the pittance we did get now we will try to use legitimately to get our man early, which may or may not work.

Nice guys finish last. Or ninth. Or this year 11th.

TBF neither of us knows the exact ins and outs of the Tigers cap, but the Aloiai/Ofa one seems pretty straightforward. We had a prop on a reported 350k a year who spat the dummy and demanded to leave, and we replaced him with another prop on a reported 500k a year but with an undisclosed six-figure salary contribution from his previous club. Seems pretty like-for-like to me.

What you're suggesting is that the Tigers take the money they presumably had earmarked to improving our unspectacular back line, and use it to pay the salaries of two props - one of whom doesn't want to play for them. I'm going to go out on a limb and say what they did is more sensible roster management even if it doesn't satisfy fans' desire for vindictiveness.
