Geez no we weren't good enough for him before he failed at the Dragons now he hasnt got alot of options - but has friends in the media. Assistants should be seen and not heard outside the club.
He is not an assistant to a younger coach. Recipe for another mid year disaster

Come on Shaun M - this is not the direction we need to go in with our young players. The improvement in St George happened when he left. You need to get this right.

Benji needs help though …preferably from someone who isn’t going to be his mate…

If flanno or someone similar does come i really gotta wonder if we can keep.it all on a.pro level.... you dont have to be best mates with your colleagues but it helps to be able to do things professionally and just get on with each other

This whole mate thing is over the top. Maguire use to be accused of the same crap of surrounding himself of people that didn't threaten him and then it's why did we let Ben Gardner go when it was Maguire who bought him to the club in the first place. It does my head in. Every coach needs to have a say about the people he can work with and an assistant has to be just that.
If they don't trust Benji to do the job as a head coach by putting one in a as his assistant - then get rid of Benji now.

Flanno said in that Triple M podcast that he doesn’t even know Benji ….it doesn’t necessarily have to involve some drama where they have some blue .., I think us fans can automatically fear the worst sometimes ..

They have tried it his way already with his mates … were you happy with those results ?

Look .., maybe he should he punted … but I dont have to pay him out … and it doesn’t look like they are going to do so either

"Recipe for another mid year disaster" Telltails
I cant see it being a cozy relationship. Marshall would have to lay out his objectives up front, and crack the whip if things begin to wander.
Maybe I'm not giving Marshall enough credit for professionalism. Just how I imagine it.

The whole NRL is a mates game and playing together in a club does not necessarily mean that they were your best mates. Like I said we can find a way to accuse our coaches of surrounding themselves with the wrong people whether they are experienced or not.
All head coaches have a say in their assistants - and there is a good reason for that.
