I remember Ronda Rousy shooting down a reporter gloriously who was trying to use Rousy's success as a victory for the women's movement. Rousey responded saying she wasn't where she was because Dana White wanted to do something for women, she was where she was because she brought money in. Sadly that isn't the attitude of Channel 9 and Fox Sports. Whether they are good is immaterial. It helps the image that women are on TV, and that's what matters.

The sport needs all the women that they have involved and it is great to see Ruan getting a run as well. The more levels that features them the better, with Marina Go a good example.

The code is dying and the only light is the strong emergence of the women's game, particularly so at teenage junior level.

It is ok not to get along with someone of the opposite sex without it turning into gender specific problem. The issue between the two of them should not relate to the trolling that Molan has received from the morons who get delight in taking people down. That is the real issue.

It really peeves me when people call them trolls. Trolls are people who talk rubbish they know isn't true to get a rise out of people. People who abuse and slander others aren't trolls, they're a holes. Sadly, its a buzzword the media fall back on every time. Does my head in.

A hole trolls, key board warriors, small minded low lives call them whatever you want - the point is they have access to attack people with venom with very little accountability for the damage it can cause.

That's the big bad world. Its filled with those types. I wouldn't touch social media if I was high profile.

Molan just isn't very talented. Why can't people call a spade a spade? She may try hard but if she doesn't have it then she should move on to a different career path. No shame in that - we all experiment in our work lives.

In your opinion she’s not talented, in mine and many others’ opinions she is very talented in what she does. She does as good a job as Bracey does in the same role. Why should she have to change careers because you believe she is not talented? Do you think Bracey should move on also?

even as a host, she struggles with asking the right questions to "experts". she isn't very talented at her job, but I think she would do well as a news anchor or presenter. she isn't a good interactive show host like in the sunday footy show.

i prefer james bracey.

and speaking of joey, he isn't the most articulate but no one analyses the game better than johns and slater. i love it when those two have a conversation.

Look I'm not a fan of hers either, but at the end of the day the network wants women among the presentation team. Wondering now that Ruan Sims has called it day whether Nine will engage her. She's played the game at the premier level for women and knows the game. She'd be the ideal candidate.


Again, Molan is a journalist and host/anchor, like Bracey, like Sutcliffe etc. When are people going to get this through their thick heads? She is NOT an expert analyst of the game and as such should not be compared to the likes of a Johns, Slater, Simms or even Sampson, who have all played the game at some level, but are NOT actual journalists.

Ruan Simms would probably be a terrible anchor, but she is great for expert and sideline commentary during a game, like Johns, like Slater, like Lewis etc.

If people feel the need to compare Molan to someone else on the commentary team then at least compare her to the ones that do the same job, (i.e. Bracey, Gilbert) not the former or current players who are there for their expert analysis on the game/players. It’s really not that hard to understand the difference.

Fair enough, my point was I reckon they could kill two birds with one stone. Sims might be rusty to start off with but a bit of media training plus the added bonus of having played the game could really pay off for Nine.

Sterlo (and others???) wouldn't even acknowledge her or comment on what she said. He just stared straight ahead the whole time. Can't remember if it was over something she wrote or if they just didn't want her there.
Off the subject a bit but I reckon it's time Rabbits gave it away too. Making too many errors, using useless, minor stats all the time and his "news" is all common knowledge from the papers.

I have no idea who Bracey is.

It's not just one person's opinion that matters, but be sure if channel nine viewers don't think she offers much and is a waste of space then channel nine should will give her the flick. Just as they did to fatty and co and many other callers in the past.

In the entertainment industry if what you're doing isn't popular then you need to change your offering to something the public likes. Of course nine would need to dig deeper than online comments on social media via focus groups etc.

No one (or at least most people) are having a go at her just because she's female, there are other females in similar roles doing a good job, but erin tends to grate many people the wrong way. That's showbiz...

Probably because she wrote that the show was better without Fatty and Sterlo and this was while Fatty was off after his head knock and Sterlo had a few weeks off after one of his parents died.

It’s basically the opposite of the NFL where the game is most important. It’s just entertainment tv and reporting wth NRL in the background. Johns is one of the few that dare actually analyse a game or provide opinion about the contest. Won’t matter game will be dead in a few years. 9 just reflects league is a soap opera not a serious professional sport.

Personally I don't like any of the hosts from either network.

My favorite call is the ABC, including their pre game talk which is actually about footy despite being light hearted. Someone like Vossy could fill both roles for TV, but I can't imagine any of the hosts mentioned here, nor a caller like Ray Warren, being able to do that.

As for the comments about women here, better to let them go I guess....

Not a great fan of Erin, but she is very talented and has a great deal of football knowledge imo. I also think Sampson, Simms and Alisha Ferguson are very good at what they do. Apart from Yvonne wouldn't even mention the other females on Fox and Danika Mason on 9 is pathetic, always tries to do an impersonation of a very untalented race caller. These comments are based on these females ability to broadcast and their knowledge - nothing to do with looks or whether they are hot or not as that has no relevance.

In the men's department Johns and Slater are the standouts with Lewis not far behind. Wouldn't feed the remainder apart from Gus if he got it together instead of just trying to rev Rabs up and trying to be a clown instead of the very expert commentator he could be. Also he needs to stop with the "why did they pull that up it was only marginally forward" etc. etc. The rules are the rules, makes him look like a dope.

Have been a great fan of Rabs over the years, but it is time to hang the mike up especially with mistakes like "Leilua is tackled on the 40, no in fact it is Papali" and "the Group ? in Junee is going really well, Rastus's uncle Louie played for them in 1936". Matt Thompson is the new man and is going to get better and better - he is only 35.

Most of the RL people on other channels are very very ordinary and if one of these channels gets the TV rights next time - OMG. You think Channel 9 is bad.

For whatever reason, Molan isn't liked too much across the board. I'm neither here nor there with her. I think she fills her role reasonably well. Maybe she's a pain to work with - who knows? Nines team need a total re-fit. They're appalling given the amount of experience they have. Ray Warren is diabolical. His constant calls of a player marking the ball drive me insane. He's basically promoting a term from the games arch enemy. Rambling on with Gus and the rest about Sweet Fanny Adams whilst play is in motion is also iso damn infuriating. If these fellas just focused on the game and pointed out more actual interesting things in back play or relevant happenings that aren't spotted by the average viewer as - Joey does and Slater does it'd be 100 times better. Fittler can be so much better as well. He's just fallen into the jokey nine boys club mentality and comes across as a complete flake. As for Finchy.....:facepunch: But no, we put up with garbage, so we keep receiving garbage year after year.

Like anything Demps, it's a matter of opinion. Some think she does the job she's employed to do, others don't. I fall into the latter. If I thought the opposite it's not necessarily because I want in her pants.

I rate Vonny, many others do, some don't. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one, and some stink.

And Tabs has been awful for a decade, before then he was a very good caller.
