Wests Tigers Coach Grant Jones has named his side to play Manly Sea Eagles at Bluetongue Stadium on Sunday, July 25, in round 20 of the Toyota Cup competition.

Indeed they have. They have the right forward pack, now they just need Mullaney back, and a proper halfback. Manly will be tough and have the wood on the Tigers.

MANLY BEAT WESTS TIGERS 24-20 IN TOYOTA CUP

Wests Tigers suffered a 24-20 loss to Manly Sea Eagles at Bluetongue Stadium today in round 20 of the Toyota Cup competition.

Coach Grant Jones kept the same side as per the team named on Tuesday.

Manly opened the scoring in the 13th minute when a grubber kick by half-back Gary Riccardi for a 4-0 lead. Five-eighth Scott Blanch converted the try for a 6-0 lead.

Wests Tigers opened their account when powerful second-rower Ben Murdoch Masila crossed for a 6-4 scoreline. Half-back Jay Florimo failed to convert for a 6-4 scoreline after 26 minutes.

Interchange hooker Pat Politoni then scored to put the Wests Tigers in front. Florimo converted the try for a 10-6 lead after 37 minutes.

The Sea Eagles scored right on half-time through lock Nathan Clark. Blanch converted the try for a 12-10 lead at half-time.

Manly full-back Sione Ala got the Sea Eagles off to a strong start in the second half with a try three minutes after the break when he swooped on a grubber kick to score. Blanch converted the try for an 18-10 lead.

Wests Tigers got back to 18-14 when centre Jake Clarke crashed his way over in the corner to score. Full-back Sama Sauvao took over the goal-kicking duties but failed to convert from out wide.

Wests Tigers drew level when Murdoch-Masila crashed over next to the posts. Sauvao converted the try to give Wests Tigers a 20-18 lead with 16 minutes remaining.

Manly regained the lead when Riccardi ran to the right and showed the ball before crashing through an attempted tackle to score out wide. Blanch swung the ball in between the posts for a 24-20 scoreline with five minutes remaining.

A cut out pass by five-eighth Bodie Clarke put winger Faleula Finau in open space before some desperate cover defence brought him down 40 metres out from the Manly tryline in the 77th minute.

Manly did enough to hold on in the end with the Wests Tigers dropping the ball twice in the dying minutes.

The loss leaves Wests Tigers in ninth position on 22 points with six matches remaining.

Now I made a call earlier today that the Tigers will struggle to make the 8, but looking at the draw they have a decent run home, with the Sharks, Eels and Panthers all below them on the table. With Mullaney to come back soon (fingers crossed) they may be able to just sneak into the 8.

Add Melbourne to that Willow. Think they play the bottom 4(should win all 4 ), Souths and game against Gold Coast could decide their fate for this season.
