Good to see Florimo gone and good to see Joel Jackson on an extended bench. Time for boys to get back in the winners circle.

Wiseby?

Be a Leichhardt early to cheer the 20's back into the 8….

WESTS TIGERS BEAT SHARKS 14-10 IN U20S

Wests Tigers recorded a hard fought 14-10 victory over Cronulla Sutherland Sharks at Leichhardt Oval tonight in round 21 of the Toyota Cup competition.

It was a much needed win by the Wests Tigers and gets their finals campaign back on track. The win takes Wests Tigers to 24 points with five matches remaining.

In team changes, winger Monikura Tikinau dropped back to the interchange bench for Joel Jackson. Second-rower Ben Murdoch-Masila was a late casualty with a shoulder injury, replaced by Mason Talolua.Vaha Pulu came onto the interchange bench for Talolua.

Wests Tigers opened the scoring in the 13th minute when prop Junior Roqica used brute strength to beat three defenders to score out wide. Full-back Sama Sauvao missed the conversion for a 4-0 lead.

The home stretched their lead to 8-0 six minutes later when hooker Dean Parata dived over from dummy half to score. Sauvao failed to convert from close range for an 8-0 lead.

The Sharks opened their account when Tyrone Peachey scored out wide. Half-back Chad Townsend converted the try for an 8-6 scoreline after 27 minutes.

The score remained that way until half-time.

2ND Half

Cronulla opened the scoring in the second half when winger Daniel Perkins dived over in the corner for a 10-8 lead after 49 minutes. The try was not converted.

In what was a real arm struggle in the second half, Wests Tigers regained the lead in the 77th minute when half-back Liam Ayoub put through a grubber kick from 10 metres out on the last tackle to beat three defenders to dive on the ball to score for a 12-10 lead. Sauvao converted the try for a 14-10 lead after 79 minutes.

Wests Tigers held on for a vital victory.

The young Tigers were very ordinary in attack tonight. They made enough ground up the middle of the field but the backline didn't really threaten and they have plenty of work to do to make the top 8 from here. Souths will be a very tough match for them next week and hopefully Mullaney is back soon because they are in desperate need of a goalkicker too. Sama Sauvau hit them worse than Florimo which is saying something.

matt hyland was head and shoulders above any player on that field.

i believe spence was rite up there as well!!!! and ethan had great effect off the bench for the boys

Begovich went well, he bent the line when he hit. Hyland gets through a lot of work but doesn't look that good IMO. Tafili off the bench bent the line too. The Tigers have a lot of work to do if they are going to make the finals though.

hyland made 45 tackles, and had 15 runs for 139m

pretty impressive if u ask me.
