So Storm are open to releasing JAC IF they can secure a player of his ability or higher???

That just makes me sit back and say that the Storm are a club that will not be walked over but are fair and acting on good faith to there members etc..

Unlike Tigers, we let Moses, Matterson go without asking for the same..understand these cases are not the exact same and don't want to get into a back n forth disagreement with anyone but is this just a case of better Management on our behalf??

Storm WILL get something for JAC but here we are nearly 2 months after releasing Matterson and are struggling to sign players with no real benefit to our club for letting him go.

God I hope our Management surprise me and I can eat my words... Anyway time will tell

Will they though ? The other 15 teams have them over a barrel. It’s all good posturing , but the reality is , it’s a breach of HR to force him to stay.
Most teams start out at “screw them and the other team it’s about US” and end up with a portion of what they really wanted .
Ask the sharks how that went for Valentine.
Still wound up in NQ.

Melbourne Storm are willing to let star winger Josh Addo-Carr return to Sydney at the end of the 2020 season but they will be seeking a "Tim Kelly trade" in return.

The Storm have faced constant talk about Addo-Carr's future throughout the off-season due to his desire to return home to his family in Sydney despite having a contract with the club until the end of 2021.

With fellow winger Suliasi Vunivalu heading to the Australian Wallabies at the end of the 2020 season, the Storm could also be bidding farewell to Addo-Carr but only if another club meets their asking price.

Storm chief executive Dave Donaghy updated members about the situation in letter on Friday confirming the club board had instructed management to look into a possible early release for Addo-Carr but under strict conditions.

Donaghy said the Storm would be seeking a combination of a transfer fee, a player swap of commensurate standing and/or salary cap relief.

"The board yesterday morning instructed management to explore options for Storm to provide Josh with an early release from his playing contract, on compassionate grounds, at the end of the 2020 season," Donaghy wrote.

"To achieve this, Storm would be seeking fair value for Josh in return by way of a combination of the following: transfer fee; player swap, with the player being of commensurate standing [and/or] salary cap relief for doing the right thing by the player, and providing some extra support for Josh, not dissimilar to the recent scenario in the AFL with Tim Kelly at the [Geelong] Cats.

"We believe this would be a fair outcome for all parties given the investment Storm has made in Josh and that we find ourselves on the cusp of the 2020 season.

"Most importantly, it would allow Josh’s request to be met and we, and the game, would be able to continue to support him and his family in the transition back to Sydney."

Former Geelong star Tim Kelly wanted to return home to Western Australia at the end of the 2018 season but the Cats had him under contract and knew he was about to become a star so they kept him. However, Geelong explored a deal with West Coast Eagles, which eventually saw him head home this off-season for three high draft picks and a 2020 first round pick from the Eagles.

The Storm are not in a position to let Addo-Carr leave this season and now know it’s likely they have to find two starting calibre wingers in time for season 2021.

Sydney clubs would have been hoping they could pick-up Addo-Carr on the cheap but the Storm appear steadfast in wanting a return for a player, who arrived at the club under a cloud of doubt and has become arguably the game's best winger.

So, basically the Storm want to impose a trade / compensation system from another sport into the NRL...

I think the first priority for Pascoe and co is to secure Addo Carr's signature then worry about negotiating his release for 2020....

Mate I'm beginning to feel that Pascoe is pretty useless at this stuff. Couldn't secure a root in a brothel let alone a good player when one is on offer.

It's probably just posturing by the Storm to their members but it still seems he'll be there in 2020.

It does however raise the question of why it would be considered a compassionate release in 2021 but not 2020?

Exactly. This doesn't exist in the NRL and Melbourne can't do anything about it.

He’s surely odds on to tell Belly he’s signed with the tigers and will be of no threat to the Storm’s ladder position for this season...

You guys slay me - Pascoe is on a hiding to nothing.

He says nothing, doesn't sign someone - the guy is useless.

He signs someone - the guy is useless.

Exactly what do you want him to do Spud?????

JAC will be finalised soon.

?

Don’t roll eyes.

So AJ, Mitchell and Addo Carr?

There is a poster on the Warren who is apparently a credible source who wrote something like

Keep this date 18th of December 2019 as the day the rabbits got one back

Ladies and Gentlemen - Latrell Mitchell is a rabbitoh

Got one back over who, the Roosters? They don’t want him, and are desperate to release him. But yeah, got one back ?

Don't be so harsh - it is a souffs supporter.
