I wouldn't be surprised if Marty was seeking a release. He'd be on minimum wage and he's practically carrying the side on his back with no reward. The club probably couldn't afford to pay him an extra cent next yr as an upgrade, so why wouldn't you want to look at your options if you were in his position.

This is not about Marty he has already started negotiating a contract extension.

Hope you are right, but the way contract negotiations are conducted here, it means nothing I would bet that we are not the only club that he's negotiating with, he ( and his manager) would be a fool it it is.
Remember we don't even have money to throw around, let alone TPAs
