We have a 7 who controls the game and dictates play quite well, good kicking game, so should allow JR to just pick and choose his moments. We also have a player called Jake Connor, who is a fantastic talent, and seems to have found his position at Full Back so he might compliment him quite well

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cA5z3zt-P8

Connor looks talented. Good passing and running game.

We need a full back and you need a 5/8. I think we could suggest a swap - Connor for JRey.

Since the 80s , no English back has made the slightest dent in the ARL/NRL. Brian Carney is the closest thing in the late 90s , and he’s Irish .

There’s been so many man too. It’s not like it’s a little sample size . Every year there’s at least 1-2 , and every year , they’re just not as good .
In the forwards completely different story , as UK forwards are raised to play in a much more meaner and grittier footy style, that offers something unique .
But backs need to score points . That’s thier job . And the ones who come over , just don’t have the skills the kids here do. I’d say , without knowing ?, it’s probably to do with the weather , and the amount of touch/Oz tag played . You can literally , play a form of footy all year round here .

Hi - Hull FC fan here in peace!

Obviously Hodgson has come over to start coaching us, and rumours are that we have be signing Josh Reynolds as well to play 5/8.

What are your thoughts on him? He has been around the NRL now for a while, but couldn't really remember his qualities, or how he plays at 5/8. Is he a runner, can he put players through gaps?

Hi mate, plenty of Tigers fans would be happy to see him go due to how much of the salary cap he takes up, relative to how much he's been on the field. BUT, and it's a big but, none of us begrudge him personally, it was just a bad deal the previous coach signed. Reynolds is a competitor, he will always give you his best. And he is a good bloke. And Brett Hodgson would know exactly what he is capable of.

In all seriousness, he's been plagued with injuries and has had some (very high-profile) personal dramas **so couldn't understand why he didn't take the opportunity to go over to ESL.**.
This year was a lot better for him - physically - and he seemed to come through the other stuff.
He's not too bad and really didn't make the team due to Benji's selection. But think his NRL playing days are numbered. Just think he's never really evolved so he could really play to his strengths - whatever they may be. And I don't mean that as a dig, we've seen very little of him in our colours tbh.
Like others have said, he's overenthusiastic and great with motivating the team. Loves to niggle and will always try.
I know things haven't gone too good for him since he's signed with us, yet I'd like to see him get a chance to show what he can bring to a team. He's of good character and a strong team leader, so here's hoping he can help out a team that could use his services, as It's unfortunate that he doesn't really fit into our plans.

I can absolutely understand why players, Josh and Benji, don’t want to go to Covid ravaged and infected England. There is not enough money in the world that would get me any where near England, Europe or the US at the moment.

I know what your saying, my son who lives in London rang me yesterday to tell me both him and his partner tested positive. He said everyone he knows has it.

A change could be good for Josh. CV19 has been the least of his issues over the past year or so.

Hope they are all ok mate. Had it in my family earlier this year, it isn't fun.

Best chance they have over in Great Britain is if the vaccine proves to be successful, in the mean time I hope your son and his partner come through it ok.

Re Josh I hope this happens for him.
He needs a confidence boost & being able to play regular footy is the only way.

He is a gutsy, hearty player who is actually of value, its just not seen here.

George Williams.

I do get your point though, and I do think it is down to conditions, weather, League being one of the national sports down under whereas here it isn't really played.

However, the tide is turning I think. There are plenty of backs in SL who could make an impression in the NRL - Lomax, Regan Grace, Makinson, Tom Johnstone, Jake Connor Jacob Wardle, Oliver Gildart and a young kid has just signed for the Knights called Bailey Hodgson (Nephew of Josh at the Raiders) who us going to be some talent

Reynolds is poorly advised if he doesnt look around, especially in the ESL.

This is his very last year playing, because not a soul would touch him after this season.

However, if he goes NOW to ESL, he could conceivably add another 2 or 3 years to his career, which he could easily manage based on how much time he hasnt been on the field in the last few years.

It really is that simple.

I hope so. We really need a strong SL , for the game to maximise its potential. Because really , all things considered , due to where Australia’s in the global economy , SL should be far bigger , than the NRL.
But that world doesn’t exist , for a variety of reasons , and we need the SL to just be better than it is. People like Jackson Hastings and Blake Austin , average to below average in the nrl, should t be going over there and dominating . Even bevan French is a star. The gap is real , and I hope we are closing it .

@Irregs16 I think someone else asked but where have you seen this reported in the media over there and if so how credible is it?
