Josh Schuster #

Josh always had great talent. As a junior, his ball playing ability was undeniable. When he made grade, he wanted to play in the halves but probably wasn’t quick enough and as a forward, he didn’t have the work rate. I see him as a ball playing 13 but he will need to be fit enough to make his tackles and hit ups (the diry stuff) which he seemed reluctant to do.

I don't know mate, you think Schuster has it in him to get into 1sts this season, maybe next after a good summer.

Personally getting a bit sick of these feel good dovey moves by Benji, just get us to the finals is what we all want.
Don’t know mate,
hasn’t played in a long time…
**edit** played ressies last year???

But if we could make a fist of the season between here and the finals
- I’d rather be looking at a player of his calibre in the 19 with a few games under his belt
than some of the other blokes we’ve had in there this year.

The club got rid of Jordan Miller due to his lack of fitness/weight issues yet sign Schuster🤔

Well he'd be on bugger all money, less than Miller would have been on.
Chalk and Cheese on ability looking at these two.
Schuster when at his best is easily a NRL player.
Can’t say the same about Miller

What about some of our big dollar signings in the not too distant past
Justin Olam
John Bateman

This is nothing like them thank goodness as we are spending minimal dollars to see if Schuster can reach his ability to be a NRL regular.
I’m not losing any sleep over this decision.

What happened to all you empathy for young blokes a couple hours back tough guy?
So we’re allowed to have a negative opinion on the way a young blokes carries himself - as long as it’s the same young blokes you don’t rate?
You’ve aways been full of piss and wind,
Now put some batteries back in the flashlight and sod off back under your blanket.
I don’t even know you bro …. “YOuVe AlWayS…… wtf are you even talking about ? Dude got sacked for attitude problems . The other dude … who you’re carrying on about spends his spare time running training clinics on YouTube and til tok …… and the bloke who you’re talking about now fell apart because he watched his best mate go down with heat stroke and die because the trainers thought it was 1984 and depriving guys of water is a good thing . If you think these things are the same …. Which you clearly do ….. then champ you’re a sociopath . Or just a massive dickhead . Either way . It makes no difference to me . I don’t ever engage with you . For this very reason . I find your opinions abhorrent most of the time , I find you to be an uneducated fool …unless you’re ranting raving about teenagers because you only see them as tools to get to first grade so you can get that dopamine hit when we win … which is rarely .
You’re just another pencil neck loud mouth on here. Spewing hate and venom and toxicity and just shit all the time . So if being positive and supportive of the kids and young men who actually wear this jersey with pride puts me at odds with people like you . Then bring it on champ .
You’re such a loser . And you don’t even realise …. Which makes you an even bigger loser …. It’s embarrassing
Once again I’ll say it to you . Just be a good human . It’s not fricken hard .
Tough guy? What the actual …..

I think this is really, really smart from Benji. After a solid preseason next year we have someone who can cover at lock, backrow, 5/8. We've been screaming for a reliable backrower since Samuela got injured, Benji may have found him. He needs to get his mind, fitness and defence sorted first. Even if Schuster cant play 80 in the backrow, he can help carry the workload with the other guys and like Avarillo if hes on the bench can cover multiple positions without putting the team out of kilter. He just need to get himself right first. Best thing about it is hes on a N.S.W cup contract so we can still go to market if need be as theres no risk. Hes not in the top 30 and taking no cap space atm. The upside far outweighs the downside of him coming. Just a matter of if Benji is the guy who can get through to him.

He might be too light for backrow now...seeing as hes dropped 30 odd kilos i think i read...dunno what his weight is now
Anyway time.will tell.and I hope he finds success and a happy balance here
Once he starts training within a system they will get him to his optimal playing weight. Daine laurie did a passable job at 13 for the raiders, you can be a bit smaller if you have the players around you that are defensively solid. Our poor defenders get exposed because we either have weak or inexperienced defenders in at least 50% of our team.

I have no issues with him seeing it is a NSW contract. However, I don’t think of reliable back rower when I think of him (even a couple out years ago)

Remember him as lazy in defence, and always seeking the spectacular no-look pass to get on the hilites reel..which usually handed the ball back to the opposition
Very entitled attitude..with many clubs supposedly chasing him.
Hes had a real wakeup call with no income coming in,and am hoping Benji reinforces his need to improve in these areas.Just losing weight isnt enough
But hes gotta change his attitude 180 degrees,as last thing we need is a lazy defender
Were desperate for a big bodied 13 with ball playing capability,so opportunity is there
Am concerned that Bennett cldnt make it happen
Am also concerned that Benji is seeking distractions from his results with Schuster and Folua...

100% not at the moment he's not even close. It all depends if he kicks on. Thats why its a great deal for us. If he doesnt we tried but lose nothing. If he does he has all the potential in the world.

We aren't committed to any extra resources to accomodate him and his development or otherwise is on him. I cant see a downside, we either win or at worst break even. No brainer imo. But here's hoping he turns it into something special.
