God, I loathe the debenture system and hate the governing effect it has on our club WT, the HBG and the Wests Magpies. The debenture system has to be buried at some stage, no idea how / when, but it is a crook, self interested way of governance influence- and its not as though the holders have had to put in huge amounts of $$$- $100 FFS, if it was $1m I could understand more. 🤑

Thinking more about this- I reckon the best way to ease out the debenture system with Magpies / HBG / Tigers is to stop any new membership to the debenture rolls from now on and eventually by attrition the number of holders will go down and eventually die out. Of course, the debenture holders would have to agree.

In the interim we would have to continue with the current methods but as debenture numbers reduce, those involved in governance would be replaced as their numbers reduce by normally selected members outside the debenture cartel.

Erm, I'd stop short of calling her a murdering Fascist thug aye. She's been involved with the Magpies for a very, very long time..., and while yea a debenture costs 100 bucks, pretty sure there was many hours free volunteer efforts from Julie going back decades when no-one was interested in the future of Wests. Like ran the supporters club from the 80s onward right?

She's still on the Board. She just got voted out as chair. I don't hate them, they're not evil, it's just that we live in the world of multi-million dollar professional sports now, the world has mostly changed around them but that Board still behaves like its a lawn bowls club in the late 70s or a local community theatre group.

there is a weak spot / loophole somewhere
we nutted this out a while ago , takes time smooszing the system , to grovel to the top .
