Junior Reps 2019

I did read that the young centre in Balmain SG Ball named Smyth is a talent. Although it was the Pirates, he did score 3 tries.

If you get the chance, watch the No 4, the left centre in Balmain SG Ball. I watched the highlights of him against the Roosters in 2018 in HM and a try he set up was brilliant. He scored two against the Dragons and his ability to step, his pace, and positioning of his winger is top shelf. There is something special about him so let’s hope he kicks on and we keep him.

Smyth's been playing second row this season. Did score 4 tries against Pirates but on review 3 of them he just had to dive over the wide open line. He was dropped to the bench for today's game against the sharks as O'Kane was coming back from injury. Both decent prospects.
The centre looks big but not that bright. Like another Suli. Guyan seems very small for a prop, even at SG Ball level. Rizk looks the best talents out of this group, a tall centre who's quick and can beat his man and hungry to get his hands on the ball as much as possible.

Congrats to Balmain coming back at the death to beat the Sharks. Camroux diving over with 2 mins left to grab the win. The team is coming along nicely.

If only Wests weren't such a massive disappointment every year. Consistently coming last despite the wealth of talent on their doorstep.

I hate to appear to be too negative about this ….. but what do you think the reason may be for our junior sides (year after year) delivering such poor results.
You would think that club with for such large catchment area would perform much better.
For me there is Something ?? Definitely missing on that front?

So with one round remaining:

**HM**
Balmain Tigers are currently in 9th, and play the 12th placed Central Coast Roosters. They must win and hope the Knights thump the Eels to scrape into the 8.

Western Suburbs Magpies finished 14th.

**SG Ball**
Balmain Tigers are currently 5th, and play the 4th placed Central Coast Roosters. A win, and other results going accordingly could see the side finish 3rd.

Apologies, have updated.

Western Suburbs Magpies (16th) play the 15th ranked Victoria Thunderbolts. Hopefully a win to finish the season on a high.

**TG Cup**
Wests Tigers are currently 4th and play the 6th placed Penrith Panthers. Should be quite an equal game, so hopefully a win will eventuate to provide momentum heading into the finals.

Balmain has largely done well, either making the finals or pushing hard. Wests have been coming last or second last in junior reps for several years now. The players they pick just aren't good enough. They seem incapable of signing the best young players in the area and there's no local loyalty from juniors to the Magpies/Tigers

Well done to Balmain for making the finals in both grades. A win would have seen SG Ball finish in the top 4 but they saved their worst performance for last. Not enough urgency knowing they already had secured a finals spot.

Some good players who'll be ready to step up to Flegg shortly too.
