Matamua will play 200 NRL games for the Wests Tigers. He's from my Club, Lock but plays like a 6, always the smartest footy brain on the field.

Was happy when we signed him... watched him dominate schoolboys. Real talent

Makes you wonder why we didn't sign him to a development contract, and why we're still keeping him in sg ball when he's already past that level, same as the Queensland schoolboys we've signed.

If a player dominates in a comp you don't keep them at that level for a few years, if they earn a promotion then play them at a level that will test them more

A few familiar surnames in the Balmain squads - Edmed, Elias and Jorgensen.

Lol Edmed brings back many memories, like many people i would always buy "footy doubles" from the club official selling them and every week i would seem to get Edmed on a quarter of them.I had a lot of time for Steve as a player but never as a try scorer

The NSWRL is thrilled to announce the launch of NSWRL TV which will see Rugby League fans across the state treated to a live stream of all the action from more than 100 games across all competitions in 2021.

The dedicated channel for all NSWRL matches and content will be housed on the NSWRL Facebook page and will live stream games from the opening round of Junior Representatives on 6 February.

The competitions to be live streamed include the Harold Matthews Cup, Andrew Johns Cup, SG Ball Cup, Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup, Laurie Daley Cup, Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership, NSW Cup as well as Group competitions in regional NSW.

“The NSWRL has always been committed to our fans and NSWRL TV represents an opportunity for us to showcase our competitions from Manly to Mudgee,” said NSWRL Chief Commercial Officer Jodie Cross.

“Fans will be able to tune in to the NSWRL Facebook page every weekend and catch all the skills on offer from our junior stars through to our senior players.

“This is a significant investment by the NSWRL and I’m looking forward to all the opportunities it will provide this season and the future for keeping our stakeholders connected.”

The NSWRL trialled live streaming games in 2020 to provide another service to NSW Rugby League fans when the COVID-19 pandemic restricted the number of people who could attend matches.

The results were strong with 45,000 fans tuning in on average for the Presidents Cup competition in 2020, a unique competition involving teams from regional NSW and the Sydney metropolitan area.

One of the most popular live streams saw 85,000 viewers tune in for the Group 9 Preliminary Final between the Tumut Blues and Young Cherrypickers which reflects the appetite for all NSWRL competitions.

Fans will be able to catch all the action this season on https://www.facebook.com/NSWRL

Wests contributes $300k to local rugby league
Local News

Local rugby league has received a big boost with Wests Group Macarthur committing more than $300,000 to support 23 clubs in the region.

The partnership agreement supports a newly formed 'powerhouse' competition under NSW Rugby League which includes Wests Tigers Macarthur Junior Rugby League and Group 6 Rugby League in 2022.

The $330,000 comes via the ClubGRANTS scheme, and supports 7115 players in 447 teams across the 23 clubs from Campbelltown to Wingecarribee. It marks the biggest single financial sponsorship by sporting code in the history of Wests Group Macarthur.

Funding will be used toward encouraging local sport and positive rugby league pathways including player development programs, insurances, gala days, fees, uniforms, marketing and promotion, and volunteer development.

Following recent constitutional and organisational changes, New South Wales Rugby League will govern and act as operational body for Group 6 and Wests Tigers Macarthur JRL in the Macarthur region. It is intended this structure will lead to growth and development of rugby league through Macarthur Clubs in the coming years.

Wests chairman Alan Buxton said the partnership was extra special given the club's historical association with the Campbelltown City Kangaroos..

"Wests is thrilled to partner with NSW Rugby League in a deal that strongly reconnects and reignites Wests Group's long-running and historical association to the rugby league community in Macarthur," he said.

Wests Tigers JRL board chairman Daniel Draper said locals could expect big things from the coming season.

"The new competition structure we are offering in 2022 is the most exciting and positive thing to happen in rugby league in our area in a long time," he said.

"Wests Group Macarthur have been on the journey with us for many years with their gracious support to our community and I believe the new combined Macarthur conference is the best step for all stakeholders".

Group 6 JRL chairman Mark Dooner said there would be "exciting times ahead".

"The Macarthur Conference competition will allow more efficient competitions for players of varying ability which will provide better opportunity for recruitment and retention of current players," he said.

"The partnership with Wests Group Macarhur plays a huge role in providing a successful conference competition in the Macarthur region."

NSW Rugby League chief executive David Trodden said it was an "exciting partnership" for rugby league in the south-west and would "help cement our commitment to past, present and future players of the game".

"The Macarthur and Group 6 region is one of the fastest-growing areas for participation in NSW and this deal will solidify the pathways for players looking to pursue a professional Rugby League career," he said.

Local players who have gone on to NRL success include James Tedesco (Camden Rams) in the Group 6 competition, and David Nofoaluma (Campbelltown Warriors), Ryan Hoffman (Campbelltown Collegians) and Anthony Minichiello (East Valley United) from Macarthur.

This is fantastic news. I’ve been very worried about Wests Macarthur’s commitment to rugby league in the area for some years now. I wonder if it would make sense for them to buy back in to the club one day. Especially if we start to base ourselves more out this way

Also making his professional boxing debut on the undercard of Sonny Bill Williams vs. Barry Hall on March 23.
Spare me.

He's an exciting addition to the team from Souths. Obviously living the Rabbitoh Way wasn't that appealing to him.
