Junior Tupou #254

Tore us to shreds’: Tigers young gun impresses million-dollar Moses

Mitchell Moses should have been relishing in his team’s 28-22 win over the Wests Tigers on Monday afternoon at Accor Stadium.

Instead, the Eels halfback, who had four try assists and all but single-handedly delivered his team victory with his kicking game, was full of praise for young Tigers winger Junior Tupou. “We were just making some errors, making it hard on ourselves, and we probably went away from playing footy. It probably hurt us a bit, but I thought their winger was outstanding,” Moses said.

“He put us under the pump, that Junior Tupou. For a young kid I thought, how he was carrying the ball, he was unbelievable for them, and he tore us to shreds really, and he hurt us. So, it’s a credit to him.”

With four line breaks, 221 run metres and eight tackle breaks, Tupou was a breath of fresh air for an embattled Tigers side who were desperate for a win. (SMH)

Are eels needing to sign someone?

what a brilliant footballer he is becoming. developing beautifully and is growing into his frame. he will continue to break games open like that for a very long time.

I think it's important to remember this is a guy who we were calling a cat and who we thought didn't like the contact when he came to us. We have to give players some space and time to develop.

Tupou and AJ Kepoa are two players that we need to lock up long term.
Also need to stop shifting them around. Keep them both on the left edge for the rest of the season and let them build a combination. It's about time we lock down an edge and stop shifting players around in our backline. Tupou and Kepaoa can hold down that wing and centre combo for a long time. Now it's time to give Bula a go on the right with Naden when he's back.

Tupou and Naden should be on the left, the right centre may end up being Feledy
Seen Feledy play a few times and thought he was just a straight runner, no step, not overly fast. Defends well but no X factor! Opposition sides will nullify him with ease. Unfortunately do not see him in the future NRL side.

100%. Love that combo. Powerful with some pace.

Benji said in the pre-season that one day Tupou will realise how good he is, and then watch out. Seems like that day has finally arrived.
I guess we'll let him go..I'm sure many clubs would be interested in him...so WT's don't let him go, lets try and keep all these young blokes with potential instead of letting other clubs poach them from us.

This club has done some stupid things for a while but if we lose this kid to another club I will be pissed and assume others will be as well. They need to get him extended / upgraded ASAP for other offer bigger money.
