Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

Josh Feledy named in NSW U19s State of Origin along with Latu Fainu & Samuela Fainu.

Great lineup with most already playing Flegg or higher. Fainu, Feledy combination joining forces again. Plenty more of it to come too I hope!

After Faagutu & Da Silva have stepped up in grades in recent weeks, I’d like to see Solomone Saukuru & Kit Laulilii given an opportunity in NSW Cup this week.

Kit to replace Faagutu on the bench as he’ll be in Qld U19 camp. Solo to play wing outside the experience of Tommy Talau.

If we ranked the ability of our SG Ball players, these are the 10 that would have been earmarked for at least progression to Jersey Flegg this season.

Tallyn Da Silva - 18 - NRL
Josh Feledy - 19 - JF
Lachlan Galvin - 18 - not yet
Heath Mason - 18 - not yet although named in JF 2 weeks ago
Solomone Saukuru - 19 - JF
Kit Laulilii - 18 - JF
Chris Fa'agutu - 19 - NSW Cup
Iverson Matai - 19 - JF (SG in Bulldogs system)
Tony Sukkar - 19 - JF
Jordan Miller - 18 - not yet (unsighted so may be injured)

Every chance Galvin & Mason get a run in JF. Hopefully Miller too if he is not injured.

I'd also like to see Solo, Feledy, Kit, Matai & Sukkar join Fa'agutu & Da Silva with Cup time as well.

Below these guys, it would be good to see 19yos Oliver Lawry, Tino Tavana, Elijaah Mataale, Lipina Ata & Zak Clarke given a crack at JF this season.

Jordan Miller debuted in JF against Manly which I was able to see. He was impressive in his stint and certainly didn't look out of place. Really surprised he hasn't had any more games at that level since then.

Thanks for updating, seems so long ago now. Yeah must be injured unless they have him on a massive body development regime and will emerge looking like Dolph Lundgren.

just watched our CHS boys down ACT in a very convincing manner at the Schoolboys champs. majority of our boys played first half and then were rested. here's my thoughts.

Galvin: quieter game compared to Saturday but still comes up with a try and a try involvement. pushed a pass that went to ground but you expect that in a rookie. was wrapped up in cotton wool at half time in preparation for the final. 8/10

Finau: try assist on the left edge in the first half and took a couple of carries out of yardage but quiet other than that. second half was much of the same, got a nice pair of hands on him but don't see him in the Schoolboys side barring an absolute stormer tomorrow. 7/10.

Schaafhausen-Mino: couldn't be more impressed and only played first half. beautiful short passing which led to a Galvin try and steams off the back fence. quick play the balls everywhere too. the only criticism I have, and its barely a criticism, is that he sometimes gets put on his back off the kick off, but given his size that's to be expected. also playing a year young. 9/10.

Laulili'i: not really sighted in the first half, but second half was a little more involved. hitups are dynamite. made a 20m kick return and got a quick PTB away and won a penalty. also had one off a scrum that took 4 defenders to put him to ground. threw a silly pass when he was run down off a line break that went to ground and made a dodgy defensive read coming in off his wing which led to a try, but to be expected given he's played wing a handful of times in his life. despite being a year younger he's a genuine chance of Schoolboys selection tomorrow. 7/10.

Keppie: really typical quiet hooker. gives good service, makes good tackles and does his job in distributing to the pack and the halves. made a great 1 on 1 on his opposite. makes some decent runs and loves a quick tap but not in the same breath as Da Silva or Ashton Large. 5.5/10.

Tannous: was Galvin's replacement in the second half. not entirely impressed and nowhere near as talented as his older brother. 4/10.

Thanks for the great report @jrtiger

King Robbie could Keppie be our utility type player in the future??

I don’t see future NRL player in him, personally.

Conti is honestly a ripper little half too. He just has no support. Easily CIS best player.
Have you got the right player? Conti has been playing in 6 not 7. I thought the CIS 7 was easily their best player, I believe that is Toby Rodwell. Galvin was exceptional in the CIS v CHS game.

A 6 is a half. I'm not saying half-back. Half as in "the halves".

Notwithstanding Conti is a 7 most of the time. I thought Rodwell and Conti were about on par in terms of attack over the full course of the game but I really liked Conti's efforts off the ball.
