Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

Looks a great option for us, sign him long term. Start him as a centre, cut his trade there. Would be great for us as a potential outstanding centre with his speed and running style, he’s exactly what we need a quality outside centre. We have two potential good halves coming through, and wondered where Large would fit in! But that’s perfect position for us and him, he reminds me of a more agile Falau. If he still wants to be a 5/8 all good still a great spot to progress from, centre. Playing centre he could also advance at a younger age, 19-20 easy!

Hopefully I'm wrong although I think Rugby will go big and pinch Onitoni Large from us. Just watched his 2023 Rugby highlights and he killed it against 18 years olds like Suaali did. Given we have brought in Latu Fainu in his position I have a bad feeling that he will look elsewhere and rugby will spend big to get him.

Yeah he's great, same as Makasini, rugby is a real
threat. Having said that I beleive he's signed until
2025/6 as is his brother Ashton. He still has a
way to go, wouldn't be all that worried 4 now

Im relatively certain he and his brother Ashton are fairly well locked away.

Besides, he's a very versatile player, having played in the centres in Union and at fullback at schoolboy level. He is also only 16/17, so a full two years behind Fainu, who himself may develop into more of a half back over the years depending on how the team formation dictates. He has played multiple KOE games already at halfback so far, Fainu.

I think Ontoni is still very much in the plans. Our best junior under 18 by a country mile now (especially with the SG Ball class all 18/19 and moving up to Flegg and beyond) .

Jesus Christ... the negativity on this forum is unbelievable. Worry about it if it actually happens. Fainu hasn't played a single game. There's hardly a roadblock in front of him.

your right ... what is there to be negative about with this club? With an administration who's motto is "Worry about it if it actually happens". Oh and I realise Fainu hasn't played a single game, that's why we paid him 500k imagine what we would have paid him if he had debuted! Throw in the fact that Rugby is just as incompetent and its almost certain Large leaves for 1.6 million. Thought Forums were places where you could have an opinion. Apologies

No no no you need to “support” everything from the Chairman down to the the toilet lollies in the demountables. That’s how you must fan.

Why the F*&K do you suppose that is?
God damned happy clappers make me want to go ballistic.

There’s things to be negative about & there’s things that aren’t. Imo I think our juniors are probably the most promising thing at the club atm.
Maybe. I watched them play a bit this year and they aren’t anything special.
Some are good but comparable with juniors from opposition clubs.
If we put too much faith in them we won’t dig our way out of this shit pit we live in.

You’re comparing genuine annoyance at actual things with a ridiculous “the Sky is falling” negativity. Every time some kid plays a decent game half a dozen people bemoan about him going to the Roosters.

A baseless moan is hardly an opinion not withstanding your helpful sarcasm.

People worrying about Onitoni, he was 15 at the start of the year FFS, and signed for 4 years. Seriously, get a grip people. He is the jewel in the crown of WT juniors, Benji knows it. Everyone knows it. But he's still a kid and 3-4 years away from being remotely close to first grade

That’s why I said 2030 is looking good.
